I am waiting to pick up the new sandwich card (590 dual gpu card) and i want to know if it will work as sli on my crossfire mobo. It resides on in a single pcie slot.
Anyone use a 9800gtx x2 card with a crossfire mobo and want to share their experiance. Its alot of money to have it only use one of the two cores.
ATI is not an option as i have 3d vision which is exclusive to Nvidia gpus

From some reading around the net it'd seem that dual GPU cards work on any board. The way I understand it - in x2 cards the SLI/ CX is handled by a chip that's on the card itself so it doesn't matter what the MB can do.

Hope this helps :)

I agree with bythe way_r that it shouldn't be an issue running the one card on the board even if it is dual core. I don't think it would be possible to later SLI them if you wanted to add another though.

hmm
he can SLI 2 cards on a mobo with ati chipset, it can be done almost with any motherboard, with mine (GA890FXA-UD5) can do it, a few guys in another forum did it along with more people of course, but for that you gonna need the patch for sli
hmmmmm but really don't know if we can talk about this over here cause it shouldn't be allow to use an sli patch on a ati mobo...

Go on Christoph, tell him from the other site ;D

I don't think it should be a problem to give the information here as long as you are not advertising another manufacturer's components or site. Feel free to post and absic will remove any offending parts I am sure.
-
yeah hmm well is not that I would post something offending to the forum or brand or whatever
but what I tried to say too is that I don't wanna get in nobody's way...
but, you could and should google it, I am sure there will be a lot of info about it, something like "(the mobo you have)" + "sli patch"

Well thanks for the heads up Christoph. I am sure that some people will be pleased if it is now possible. Personally I prefer the Radeons anyway but nVidia has a big following also especailly amongst the gaming fraternity.

Most excelent guys, wonderfull news. I was not liking the idea of putting out $900 at once, a single 580 now and another when they drop in price abit. When did this happen? I had no idea, it was possable. Most read up on this.
Seems everyone but me knows this lol
Happy happy

well cravinmild, we don't know everything but if we ask, we can get to ignore less ;) :P
hmm just a thought
I used both video card brands, and I prefer ATI
I can see in my monitor (you can call me crazy or whatever) that the colors with ATI are more strong, more vivid... and maybe is just me ::)
but this is not the place and I really don't want to get in something like "which one is better?"
it was just a thought
