Ok so here's what happened to me. I recently bought an intel E7600 core 2 duo to use with my gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 v.1, and I just realised that the motherboard's chipset is not supported by the cpu. Weird though cause as i can see in Gigabyte site the E7500 is supported by the motherboard but the chipset of the cpu is also not.. I'm so confused my question is this : can i use the E7600 with this motherboard or not? And how does the different chipset affects the system?

Hi,
In answer to your question ..... No, this motherboard does not support the E7600 CPU.
In answer to the second question.... if you double check the CPU support list for this Mobo ( http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2288&ver=#anchor_os )you will see that the E7500 is also not supported. (N/A in the last column shows that the CPU is not supported.
Hope this helps

I see... maybe an update of the bios would help or no?
-
No, I don't think a BIOS update will resolve this in the near future, if you check through the other versions of this board, none of them (even the latest version) support your CPU. I think it means you will need to look for a different Mobo that will support it.
Sorry :'(

Ouch.. thanks for the help there , well can you suggest a nice motherboard model then for this? (Dual DDR2)

And also what's the best chipset i should choose?
-
Hi,
How much are you looking to spend and also, what are you going to use the PC for?
-
Well gaming mostly, I'd say around 100 euro but what is the best chipset to support this cpu?
-
What about Gigabyte EP45 UD3LR anyone know this model ? Any opinions on this one?
-
Hi,
I have sent you a PM with a full list of compatible motherboards for your CPU.
The EP45-UD3LR is on it so it will support your CPU but I don't have enough experience of Intel to say if it is a good choice or not.
