I recently bought a Q2005 – very cute + works well.
But since day one it makes intermittent (at least every 5-10 min) fairly loud high pitched camera shutter like sounds – just once like its taking a photo – then silent till next few minutes.
Lately it seems to starting to do this sound twice every now and then(slightly different pitch for each sound).
I usually have speakers muted – so not a sound file playing.
Could be a fan striking its casing?
Although I can hear the very gentile sound of the fans as the go off and on (intelligent cooling?) – the camera shutter sound seems to be unrelated to this.
I am a bit worried as it must be hardware and can’t be normal.
My biggest fear is that it could be a faulty Hard Drive spindle sound.
Any comments on this ??? ???

If it's new......RMA with a description of the fault.......odds on it will only get worse....this is not a feature you paid for ;)....it does sound like a Hard Drive or optical drive fault!

If it happens every couple of minutes it should be easy to take the side of the case off and pin down where it is coming from.

Thanks guys ....
Gonna take it in soonish - dont want to open up (yet)
I have had 2 blue screen boots so far - not great for a new system.
Getting way too attached to the little thing - gonna have to backup a lot of stuff I done on it already :P
Anyone else - maybe have a similer problem / sound ...

Well some people do say the most stupid things! If only they would read the whole post first. :-[ Sorry!
Never mind the idea is all the same anyway and it shouldn't be hard to track down the offending area.
