Title: GA-Z97MX Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0) HDMI port and HD audio
Post by: eladle on November 20, 2014, 09:01:52 pm
Hi guys,

I've just installed win 8.1 on that board and I'm using the HDMI port for video and audio but I'm not able to get any HD audio from it.
I've tried to install the Realtek HD Audio Driver and the Creative SB X-Fi driver but it didn't work

any ideas ?

Cheers,
Elad

go to control panel and bring up sound properties and choose HDMI as default.

The GA-Z97MX Gaming 5 features
•Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi MB3 gaming audio suite
•Realtek ALC1150 115dB SNR HD Audio with Built-in rear audio amplifier

However these features are not outputted thru the onboard HDMI out. HDMI is handled via the Intel graphics driver, both video and audio.

Your screenshot should say "Intel Display Audio" not "High Definition Audio Device".
