Hey guys, I was just wondering if the 1GB GTX 460 from Gigabyte was based off the reference design?
Reason being is I want to get a water block for it and need to know.
Thanks ;D

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
I have the same problem myself with my graphics cards so I know your worry. I think they are based on the reference design but I am really not sure so I will find out for you. Please check back tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to answer with more certainty.

Thanks :)

I found out that it is indeed a reference PCB, but I don't know if the EK waterblock will fit since the metal chokes are quite large.

Well the information I received is quite the opposite so I don't know who has it right. Where did you find out that the cards were based on the reference design?

Here is a link to the Nvidia PCB (http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/upload/pictures/Nvidia-GeForce-GTX460-PCB.jpg)

Almost 100% similar except for the metal chokes on the right side.

Yes as you say they look visually very similar. The information I received was from our technical department so I expected it to be accurate. :-\

I have done a LOT of research on the issue. With the exception of the heatsinks, transistors, chokes, caps, and such. Yes i can say with much confidence that it is a reference board with better parts added you should have no problem liquid cooling this card.
*As long as you use the right cooling blocks*
Sorry had to add that 8)
I am waiting on today's delivery of 2 right now. So i am with ya.
I do talk to others that are already using liquid coolers on them too.
Good luck and hope it helps.

Hi Tired_biker
Do you happen to have any info on the ATI cards also. I am still trying to assess whether they are reference designs or not, the 5xxx series.
