Title: Problem with GA-X58A-UD3R board
Post by: amron on October 03, 2023, 05:29:07 pm
I have this motherboard with an I7 cpu installed on it. when I 've entered the bios setup and selected the MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T) I got this message on red background: "The system has experienced boot failures because of overclocking or changes of voltages. Last settings in this page not coincide with current H/W states. Press any key to continue" and at this stage it stalls and doesn't respond to any key. is there any cure to this problem and if so, could you please tell me in plain English? thanx.

Greetings,
There are 2 revisions of this board.

Which rev do you have?
What specific gulftown or bloomfeld CPU do you have?
What BIOS rev are you running?
What memory are you using?  How much, brand, model, spec?
How many slots are populated?
Is it QVL RAM?

I vaguely recall one of these boards having an issue with a combination of CPU and RAM, but I do not remember what.  You may want to search a bit.

The printing on the board - REV 2.0
It has 3 memory slots, 3 G.SKILL F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ modules (ddr3-1600). is it QVL?
I'll try to gather the other required info and update.
Thanx.

Greetings,
The board has 6 slots, you have 3 populated with a 6GB tri-channel kit.
The memory must be installed in DDR3_1, 3 and 5

Your memory is not on the QVL, but there is a chance it could work.  Considering this board is over 13 yrs old, I'm not sure how much time or effort you want to spend with it.  Due to its age, the board may have faults or defects unknown to you.  I can try to provide more info once you answer the other questions.  You can get the BIOS rev and CPU info from the BIOS.

Thanx. the ram modules are install exactly as described.
The cpu is I7 950 @3.07GHz. from what I've found through this link - https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/core-i7-950.c644,
I guess that it's a Bloomfield, but I'm not sure.
The bios rev is FB.

Yes.  Bloomfield.

BIOS FF is the minimum required for i7 950 support.

Try flashing to FH and restest.

Start by resetting BIOS to defaults.  Save and restart.  Then flash to "FH"

Thanx for your help. I'm trying to learn how to update the bios as per your suggestion. I never done it before, so I'm a little anxious since I understand that if it's not done right it may cause quite a big problem.

Greetings,
Nothing you need to be afraid of.

Start here and review the manual starting on page 35:
https://download1.gigabyte.com/Files/Manual/mb_manual_ga-x58a-ud3r_v2.0_e.pdf?v=8184d39f11461050ec0269d2348edcc7

QFLASH is preferred.

You will need a USB stick formatted FAT32

Copy just the extracted BIOS to the root of the USB stick.

Insert this to a USB port.

Restart the computer and start tapping the <End> key

Tap , pause, Tap, Pause

Until you see the BIOS Update QFLASH Menu.  Its self explanatory from there.  You'll see the BIOS revision you have and will be given the option to upgrade.  It will ask where it can find the upgrade file.  Point it to the USB Stick.  It takes about 2 min.  When the system re-starts, enter BIOS and ensure, date, time  and preferred settings are correct.
