Hi all,
This is my first time here and I hope I can explain my case good.
Well, the thing is that I bought a 2GB 1600mhz 8-8-8-24 1.8v RAM in 09 and now I'm using it with my almost 1 half month old MB GA-890GPA-UD3H. I really don't know much about PCs and I thought it would be running at 1600mhz but I see in the BIOS it is at 1333mhz 9-9-9-24 and also the voltage (1.520) isn't the same. So I was wondering if I must leave it like that or manually change the settings to the ones labeled on the stick? I have to say my pc is running almost fine with these settings, but if a change them will I notice any improvement?
And the reason I said it is "almost running fine" was because I noticed sometimes it freezes like for a 1 second or less while moving the mouse. This doesn't bother me much but I would like to fix it somehow since I didn't have this issue with my previous MB. I want to mention also that it took me like 45 minutes to install the OS the first on this board.

The memory speed that you can get depends a lot on the CPU revision used ,as the memory controller is on the CPU silicon.So to be able to get 1600 or those tight timings, first you must have a good CPU ,as the official AMD recomandation is at 1333 Mhz for dual channel ,at 9-9-9 timings .
Then it s the RAM itself which may not play nice with AMD memory controller ,or you may have a dual channel kit with unmatched sticks.
You should manually adjust the memory speed ,timings and voltage according to the memory manufacturer ,then run per each stick / both Memtest for several hours (4+) ,mostly tests 5,7 and 8 ,to check if the settings are stable.
You can also tweak the NB IMC voltage to 1,3V or 1,35 V for stability.
The Thermaltake PSU-s are often overrated PSU-s ,by almost 200W .A 600W Thermaltake PSU is practically a 400W PSU for real.I would swap that for something better to see what happens.
That issue you have should not happen even if the memory timings/speed are slower ,you should check the HDD-s and SATA controller health using benchmarks and utilities as the issue may be related to a HDD or some virus/antivirus software.

I have that same processor in a kids build. Ram runs fine at 1600 my timings are 9-9-9-24 and make sure your ram is set to unganged. You do notice a difference as i ran mine at 1333 then the 1600 and i like the 1600 just so much better. I didnt mess with the ram voltages at all. Just 2T and unganged and made sure it was set to the 9-9-9-24.
Are you using the amd graphics if so they have had a mouse problem with alot of the onboard grapics so make sure the graphics driver is up to date. 11.6b is out which is a hotfix that fixes the mouse thing if it applies to your graphics.
Honestly the unganged did the most improvement and made the 1600 sweet. Post back your results and someone here can help you work out any bugs. Alot of people say to stay at the 1333 though for amd processor but i have found if done right you can do 1600 and not damage any parts have had mine at 1600 since about 2 weeks after i got it.

Mmm I thought I had a good one Vezina... I really didn't check if my RAM was on the QVLs, I simple just recycled it on the MB and ran Memtest for at least 2 hours with errors. I'm going to run Memtest with the RAM on its defaults values to see what happens.
The DCTs Mode is set to [Unganged], but the command timming is set to Auto. I hope that doing these things won't damage any parts on my PC.

Memtest is a brilliant tool but it must be used properly to be accurate. I would suggest following these instructions.
The first thing I would want to check is the memory. Please follow these instructions exactly.
I would suggest that you download and run the latest version of Memtest86+ to check your RAM first.
Memtest86+ http://www.memtest.org/
Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 complete loops/cycles and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all modules.
If you have any errors the module is faulty.
If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

The reason I mentioned the RAM running at 1333mhz was because I'm thinking to buy a kit of 4GB or 8GB PC3-12800 (Corsair) and I want them to run at 1600 without have to overclock anything. If this MB can't achieve that, then I'll just be cool using them at 1333mhz.
I checked my 2 HDDs as suggested with crystaldiskinfo 4.0.2 and my 1TB WD Caviar Black health status is in "Caution", it is yellow by the Current Pending Sector Count. In addition, I tried the WD diagnostic tool and the S.M.A.R.T results were okay but when I ran the extended test it failed. May be that's the reason why my PC freezes for a bit because I updated the graphics drivers but the issue is still there.
What exactly does this mean?

I am not sure that you really understand about memory speeds. Anything over 1333mhz is overclocked as this is the fastest speed that the governing body, JEDEC, lists for DDR3. So even running your memory at 1600mhz means that you are overclocking your modules. ;)
I am afraid I couldn't read your details on the photo so can't comment on that.

DDR3 Timing Items
Manual allows all DDR3 Timing items below to be configurable.
Options are: Auto (default), Manual.
CAS# latency
Options are: Auto (default), 4T~12T.
RAS to CAS R/W Delay
Options are: Auto (default), 5T~12T
Row Precharge Time
Options are: Auto (default), 5T~12T.
Minimum RAS Active Time
Options are: Auto (default), 15T~30T.
Memory timings (or RAM timings) refer collectively to a set of four numerical parameters called CL, tRCD, tRP, and tRAS, commonly represented as a series of four numbers separated with dashes, in that respective order (e.g. 5-5-5-15).
Set Memory Clock
This option is configurable only when Set Memory Clock is set to Manual.
X4.00 Sets Memory Clock to X4.00.
X5.33 Sets Memory Clock to X5.33. 1066 speed
X6.66 Sets Memory Clock to X6.66. 1333 speed
X8.00 Sets Memory Clock to X8.00. 1600 speed
DRAM Voltage Control should also be manually set. Unganged mode should also be used.
Current count of unstable sectors (waiting for remapping). The raw value of this attribute indicates the total number of sectors waiting for remapping. Later, when some of these sectors are read successfully, the value is decreased. If errors still occur when reading some sector, the hard drive will try to restore the data, transfer it to the reserved disk area (spare area) and mark this sector as remapped. If this attribute value remains at zero, it indicates that the quality of the corresponding surface area is low.
You may want to run CHKDSK by right clicking the drive, click Properties.
Click the Tools tab, and then, under Error-checking, click Check Now

Your HDD may have some issues.I would save all data and do a low level format with the WD DOS tools on the drive.
If after these it still increases the relocated item you may very well RMA it , buy another one or/and use it as temporary drive for unimportant stuff.

I downloaded Data Lifeguard Diagnostics tool from WD site and ran it to see if it could fix the issue but failed the extended test and could not repair bad sectors. So I decided to make a bootable cd only to get the same results at the end saying: Unable to correct the errors found - Error Status Code: 0226
I immediately looked for this error code in WD site and found this:
226 - Sector Relocation Error - Failure to relocate a sector during drive repair. The drive has to be replaced. - Replace Drive
The last thing for me to do before RMAing it is to do a low level format/write zeros to see if I can "fix" the drive. I googled around and it seems to have work for some.

OMG! I just wanted to fix something not so annoying and I got myself in trouble.. >:(
So after doing a low level format/write zeros to my 1TB HDD that took 3 hrs with WD diagnostic tool, I then ran an extended test which showed no errors. After this I use Gparted to create 4 primary partitions to installed my OS. When I finished installing win7 and my PC was booting up, it stays at "Loading Operating System..." I can not get pass this not even with my other 160GB HDD.
When the repair is supposedly completed I see this in the log: The Tartition Table Does Not Have A Valid System Partition
Could someone help me fix this?
