Title: Gigabyte pop up
Post by: dsteeley on January 02, 2018, 06:05:29 pm
Hi all, I've just finished my first ever build and used the H270-HD3 m'board.  All is going well but I keep getting a Gigabyte pop up window saying that something has just been plugged into the front socket of the case (Audio Jack) followed by another message that something has just been unplugged from the front panel. Another pop up asks "What device did you plug in?" It shows a list of which Headphones is highlighted but I have nothing plugged in.  Have I plugged a front panel connector in the wrong way do you think? I've used the small plastic connector to do the front panel connections.  It is driving me crazy, pop ups happening 6-10 times per minute.

Thanks

Dave

Greetings,
This is called port sense.  Its part of the sound driver installation.

Things to consider.
Some BIOS have a settings that allows you to switch between AC'97 and HD audio

The PIN out configuration on the cases plug doesn't match what the motherboard audio connector is expecting

Something is damaged, bent, shorting or malfunctioning.

To troubleshoot, shutdown and disconnect the front panel audio connector.  Power up again and see if the behavior continues.  Suggest you test the ports on the I/O panel as well.

Port sense can be disabled on the Sound driver, but I would try to correct the issue instead of masking it.
