Hello there, I've just registered today, and request for some help about this problem. :)
Recently, I had just bought a new 1TB Samsung HD103SJ for my dekstop, so I unpacked it and plug in with on one of the SATA slot on my motherboard with the ATA cable, but unfortunately after I switch my computer on, this new hardisk drive isn't detected during the POST, even on the BIOS. I have tried plug it in on different SATA slots, however same thing happen.
This drive works well my other computer, but not sure why it doesn't work on this one.
Also, I'm trying to use this drive with my other two drives, where one is Maxtor with IDE slot, and the other one is WDC with SATA slot(wonder why this one work, but not the Samsung)
My motherboard is GA-870A-UD3 rev2.2, the BIOS settings are default, haven't changed anything since I'm not sure what to change. xD
and I'm using Windows 7 x64.
Thanks for any help, if I'm miss some important details, do let me know, as I'm not very much sure what to put up there, but hope I have cover the basic info. :)

Hi and welcome to the forum. :D
There is a known issue with some Samsung HDD's which need a firmware update to be recognised correctly on the AMD 850 chipset and your drive is one of those listed so you may need ot update the firmware on it before it will work properly.

Thanks for the quick reply. ;D
However, I'm quite confused with the 3rd step :
3. Booting the system to DOS mode by bootable media.(which with this F/W flash program).
Does it mean, I plug my USB stick(with the F3.exe) into one of the USB slots, boot my computer up, and on the POST screen, press F12 quickly to bring up the BOOT menu, then choose the USB stick from there?
Sorry though, since I'm very new in this. :-[
Thanks again.

Yes, you've got it right but I generally hit the F12 key as soon as I see the lights on my keyboard come on to get into th eBOOT menu.
The option you need will be USB HDD to Boot from the stick.
Before you run the firmware update make sure that you remove all your other drives and DVD/CD drive too, just to make sure they don't get flashed by mistake.

It seems not working, since the hardisk not detected on BIOS...
- so, I'm using a CD-R disc instead(with F3.exe burn into it)
- mount it on my USB DVD-ROM
- start the computer
- quickly press F12
- then I choose USB CDROM
- "Loading Operating System appear" on the screen
- after that, 'Boot from CD/DVD ROM" line appear below it..
- then "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK, and PRESS ENTER"..
- and I'm stuck.. ?
I restart the whole thing, but still same thing happen.. :'(

Hi,
Did you remember to make the CD Bootable or did you just burn the file from Samsung onto the CD?
You can create a Bootable Disk by using most DVD/CD burning software such as Nero or Alcohol120.

Ah yes, I just burn the file(F3.exe) into the CD, then I try to load it through BOOT menu, but no luck.
Um, sorry though, I didn't know that I had to make a boot disk, or even to make one, can you give me guide me on how to make it?
Thanks. :)

What burning software do you use?
-
ImgBurn and Daemon Tools.
Are that okay?

Hi again,
you should be able to create a bootable CD using Daemon Tools but I do not use it myself so I'm afraid I can't offer any guidance on how to go about it. If you check the help files for the software though, it should tell you how to create the CD so that it is bootable.
