Hi I have just been told by my friend WarYur that Bulldozer has started shipping in the States. See here for details:

Don't get your hopes up folks.
This is not the Desktop Zambezi version that we are all waiting for but the Opteron Server processor.
We are still waiting for confirmation of when the Zambezi Bulldozer processors will hit the shelves.
-
Only 16 core...........so what was all the hype anyway!......sadly it still doesn't tackle the deep seated problem of multi-threaded software......16 or 256 cores......our programs will still effectively run just as slow ...... hopefully this will be the catalyst for code crunches to pull there finger out of there "Benders" and start utilizing the hardware that's available to them
Sure it will have it's advantages but what people want is not incremental steps.....but massive leaps we should be enjoying with core counts hitting double figures
Maybe we need to set a precedent by "Roasting" a few programmers :D

Just another bit of possible news about the Zambezi FX (Bulldozer) desktop CPU's. From this item it looks like we could be waiting a little longer!

It seems to be slowly trundling it's way forward in usual Bulldozer style. It will get here eventually and maybe unstoppable when it does. ;)

September the 19th ;) ... you heard it here first! ! ! ! !

Got the phone call I've been waiting on......."Zambezi"....3 more .COMs have listed for pre-orders....new date is November, between the 15th to 27th.
Intel have updated there material lists and box codes this morning as well.
Sandy Bridge-E Coming November to a Store Near You.....between the 15th to 27th..... "Funny that".....Intel will begin the Sandy Bridge-E platform with the release of the Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition 6-core unlocked processor, Core i7-3930K 6-core unlocked processor, and Core i7-3820 4-core processor. The expected prices for the new processors, at release, look to be set at $999 (Core i7-3960X), $583 (Core i7-3930K) and $294 (Core i7-3820)......All in US Dollars
Now, the question to ask is... Which CPU will hit the market first: the AMD's FX series processors or the Intel's Sandy Bridge-E processors?
One source stated, ....."Intel-E could be shipped today, but Intel think a more effective strategy is to release there new chip within days of Zambezi going live as the AMD release is now so close"
then there's a new slant coming out of X-Bit Labs Santa Clara California having been busy in the R&D lab putting together two boards with the Z79 chipset..... one with the expected LGA 2011.....But the other for a LGA1356 ...a little bit can be read here! http://thenewscomputer.com/intel-x79-support-lga1366-lga2011..

It looks like Intel has returned to their usual pricing structure. Shame after the last range of reasonable prices. :-\
-
Hello All,
Does anybody know what the prices are likely to be throughout the range of the new FX Bulldozer CPU's?
Cheers,
Teknology9

Conversation was that this release price will be inflated......15 to 20% lower is probably closer to the mark.........although the pound is almost in a coma ATM so unless it bounces in the next week or two......ouch!
still no Z79 boards though which was to JUST proceed the launch ... you heard anything that you can say?

Not at the moment, I have only seen USD $ prices on the interweb. I wont be buying straight away I'll sit back and observe.......and I'll stick with an AMD platform despite the Z79...why don't you try AMD Allan?!!! :D

There still quoting 320US for the top 8 core.......which means in the UK it will between 340 and 799 pounds :D :D :D
Try the AMD .... I thought of 19 replys in 26.4 milli-seconds.... ..... all will get me booted off the forum!
I'll hedge my bets ATM ... my policy of buying version 2 of even mouth wash still stands.

Now, why did I think you would reply with something like that!!! :)
I did think about Intel many months ago but it was the cost and what I have, AMD, suits what I want to do.
-
If it aint broke!...........
PS for Tek9 (not the pistol) .... it's a fine line explaining things sometimes......to technical.......you loose people..........to basic and simplistic......they get offended.........if you don't understand something I have written.........just ask for a layman's version and I'll comply ;)

No, I understand what you are saying technically or otherwise.......you like the Intel platform. I think you've misunderstood me.....doesn't matter.
-
Now, now ladies! No need to argue about the different platforms. They are both good to be honest nowadays and I would be happy to run either one compared to what we had even a couple of years ago to work(play) with. One good thing with AMD is that they make upgrading so much easier and cheaper. Intel (normally) don't have the same outlook and force us to upgrade the whole shebang!
-
Hi DM, I am have not and never had said that AMD is better than Intel or vice versa. I aimed to go for a Intel platform but is was too expensive for me.
I can see from Allan's rig that it is impressive and I could not afford even half of that and that is the reason I went for AMD due to the cost. There is nothing wrong with Intel.
Now, this getting blown out of proportion, I just asked about the price of the FX Bulldozer so I can save up in readiness. I hope that clears this up, all the best. :)
-
Hi teknology9 I know there was no arguing over which is better or anything like that and I am sure knowing Allan that he was just having a laugh as well. No problem at all, we all like to have a bit of banter and a joke around to keep things going.
I have had AMD systems in the past and been very happy with them and in fact at times they have kicked Intel's butt so there is no argument there.
-
I'm glad you said that DM!!!! :D
-
Yes, don't take anything that is said on here to heart. We all have a laugh at each other (often at me by absic!) but it is all good humoured. ;D
-
Yep OK. I have gathered that DM but thanks ......anymore news on Bulldozer anyone...........anyone?!!! ;D
-
Good then.....It's agreed.......Intel is dog dung!......AMD is horse Pooh!.......and the only machine worth owning is Apple!
Not really....Just playing the Devils advocate with an attitude problem on Prozac and Scotch. ;D HIC!

November? TUT!

I use AMD now as i have in past 3 years or so prolly longer my first one was the sockett 939 2.2. My last intel was the 3.4 single core. As i havent tried a intel in dual or quad core i cant judge but i am happy with what i have now. AVG scans in about 2 and a half minutes games play fine.
Now that being said i have been wanting to try intle again for the last year so my next one may very well be intel. Either way i am sure both would do what i needed them to.

I think AMD are trying to set records:
