Title: GA 790FXTA-UD5 graphics card compatibility?
Post by: thx1138 on January 23, 2015, 07:24:23 am
I was hoping for advice regarding a graphics card upgrade. I have a five year old GA 790FXTA-UD5 motherboard and I was wondering whether that would limit my choice of upgrade. For example pcie 3.0 and 4.0 were released after my board was manufactured. Does that mean my board doesn't support the more powerful cards?

It can cause problems yes. Best to go with a little bit older card like the 6000 series AMD. You could also email gigabyte support and ask if they have a bios that will help with seeing a newer graphics card.
