Hello all,
I havent put together a new machine in years (lost my job 5 years ago), so I'm a little rusty. A friend of mine told me this was a good site so here I am. A little about me= I'm not an expert in PC's but I know enough to get in trouble. I'm looking for some friendly input on what CPU and Memory clock/timing/settings I should setup with my new PC, I'm running windows 7 64 bit and all ratings are all 7.9 except cpu & memory (they are at factory right now and are rated 7.7). if you could phrase it like you would in a book for "clocking you computer for dummies" that would be great :)
Anyways here's the system I put together: AMD FX 8350 "black edition", Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3, Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4X4 GB PC 15000 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233170 ), and a Hyper 212 EVO cooling fan for the CPU. Dual Raid 0 Samsung 250 GIG SSD's, all happy together in a 6 fan case. Thank You for your time and have a wonderful day :)

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4X4 GB is not what is shown in the hyperlink. If you are combining two 2x4GB kits, that isn't guaranteed for compatibility or operating at the rated specifications.
Revision 4 of the motherboard supports the use of XMP profiles by enabling a profile in the BIOS. This doesn't apply to multiple memory kits.
FX CPUs support 1866MHz speed with two memory modules or 1600MHz speed with four modules at stock speeds.

so what would you recommend, buying 2 2X8 memory sticks then set what to what....you tell me and I will buy :) thank you :)

IME Kingston ValueRAM rules. It's cheaper and has no heat spreaders (which aren't needed on 1600MHz or slower RAM) to interfere with one's choice of *downward-blowing fan coolers.

Download the motherboard manual and look up enabling XMP (eXtreme Memory Profile). Set XMP to [enabled].
