mate in the spirit of good sportsmanship, i can provide you with some cooling( loand purposes only)-no catch just in the interests of being a good sportsman?
What do you need?
gilgamesh
-
Great offer gilgamesh, this is the REAL spirit of good sportsmanship.
Thanks for this!
-
right buddy
Here are your options:
One of my reviewers owns ar single stage phase change unit, i can call in a major favour and ask to borrow it for you!
Next
If you choose water cooling i can provide a Blackice all copper SR1 420MM radiator (brand new never used) 140.3 radiator, 1/2" id tubing 1/2 barbs a 400mm multi-option ek res and clamps and a mcp 355 pump with an alphacool pexitiop, lastly i can loan you a XSPC DELTA 350 socket 1366 cpu block
lastyl thermochill perofrmance coolant this takes temps as low as -6 before solidifying
In other words a full and complete water cooling kit, if you need phase change ican help there also. However if its LN2/D-ICE you want i can at a pinch provide you with a small pot and a ton of neoprene foam( you need to recut this foam to fit the cpu socket)
Just please let me know the route you wantto choose and ill be happy to help

Really want to go but it's just too far :( Have a good one guys ;)
-
If theres any way you can make it to the event Gappo, go. Seriously. Very likely gonna be the UKs biggest bench meet this year and its a ton of fun.
Chances are, I'd travel down for it even if I wasn't competing

Wow thanks, that is so kind! I would take my loop with me but I will be travelling on my small 125cc bike! That will be great if you could bring the water loop if it isn't too much trouble, air cooling just cannot come close to extreme cooling! So all I would need to bring would be 140mm fans and coolant right? How will I ever be able to repay for this huge favour? :D

Now you are just teasing me :-\
-
No need to repay buddy, is in the spirit of sportsmanship and I meant it!
Sure you you dont wish to explore DICE cooling, one of my reviewers has a spare DICE pot you cna use, ill provide as much insulating foam as i have spare (neoprene)
However on trhe water cooling loop, all you need to do is provide the coolant, I will bring the fans for you! 3X ORANGE xIGMATEc with white LEDS ok for you?
The radiator is abrand new and unused 140.3 sr1 by black ice
block will be an XSPC DELTA 350 block (unused)socket 1366
pump and res is xspc dual bay/pump combi
tubing whatever colour you need i can provide i have 120 meters of different colours
and a role of PFTE tape /barbs and ill provide you a LIAN li temp monitor
if you need an additional res i can provide that also
let me know what size tubing you need, i have 7/16" id and 1/2" id left
All you need to provide is your coolant, a couple of litres of distilled should do the trick
ill be travelling down from yorkshire on the train so ill meet you there
happy to help bud

Sounds like a decent loop :D What tubing would you recommend? 7/16" I think would be a tight fit, I have only bought one water cooling setup so far, which is what I use for my current pc. I am not so sure which would be better though...
DICE would be fun to experiment with, although I am not sure how to safely use it and I might make a mess of things :P How easy is it to get to grips with?
Thanks, Ben.

The special bios (ver. F6 Test 2) for X58A-UD7 approved by HiCookie is available here (http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/upload/files/BIOS_X58A-UD7_F6_Test2.zip) for everyone who wish to test it.
Please share your comments and feedback after your tests, thanks! :)
And have a a Happy Easter!
-
Thanks for the BIOS, just go the email, will give it a blast....
oooh a VERY expensive tray of chips there :-)
Got to love the "Intel Confidential" marking!!
-
Badbonji....
You haven't even asked what I'm bringing yet?
I've got my air cooler and I'm bringing down a full water cooling kit so there's no need. If I can arrange something maybe have some DICE to work with. Depends if I can get more practice in handling the stuff...
~Bex
PS. Also can we get a list with who's competing for who? Even I'm getting confused now!

Oh okay, I didn't see a reply on the group email that was sent by Andrew so didn't think you were bringing any extra cooling. But that sounds good :D I have some coolant if you want me to bring it, just some distilled water I have laying around. What components are in this loop? Money has been tight at uni, I wanted to get a LN2 pot! Looking forward to benching with you next week ;D

It's only one week left, be patient :), you will meet and know them for sure.
From some teams / companies we have confirmation but without personal details. Any special team(s) you are interested in?

does this mean i have to no longer LUG this MASSIVE 140.4 and 140.3 rad down from yorkshire to MK? Or even bring anyonea kit, as it is a bit of a pusser i have arranged for almost 3 kits to be brought down and got them all packed!
grrrrrr
gilgamesh

LOL
you can still carry your stuff if you want gil :P
Would be usefull to know who needs a kit tho as i will probably only bring 2-3 along unless there is more demand.

Sorry folks
Last minute change of plan, this is the pot we are using: Piotres LN2 pot
http://www.piotres.com/?go=4,ln2,000035,cpu_cooper_solid_container__60mm_diameter_,
These cost around 160 Euros plus delivery, I will be posting some other photos of this pot tonight in this topic.
Got to admit this pot is a wonderful peice of engineering

I wont be around to comment nearer the time, so good luck to everyone taking part!
You'll have a great day :)
Enjoy the fight for 2nd place after Benchtec ;)

yup hopefully there will be a level playing ground this year

Got the prices on Piotres 's products wrong:
They are
70mm solid cost 150 eur +shipping
60mm solid cost 130 eur + shipping
I think I will buy the 70mm pot also

GOOC The aftermath:
In the first instance it was a real pleasure in meeting many people for Gigabyte, Corsair and others (who was the blighter that farted in the taxi?)
It was a pleasure in meenting badbonj and elemental (Bex) I think she showed real team-spirit by coming all the way down from Scotland, well done lass.
The battle was hard and furious, and yet there was an air of friendship, mutual cooperation and respect! With many people helping even their competitiors. This is real team spirit.
However from Third place there was YOYOTECH (he was ON LN2)
In Second place was my team (Myself and Rawz) using dry ice!
First place goes to Benchtec with a volt-modded board and LN2.
Note my team did have benchtech sweating for a short while( a feet considering the LN2 used) We did however beat five other teams that were on LN2 (whilst we were on DICE) and it goes to show that sheer cold doenst always get you there!
Benchtehc had a well-deserved win and congratgualtions to the lads on a good win! Lads we did have you worried for a while there and we will meet up next year, your a good set of lads!
I think Bex should have won the prize for the most interesting cooling solution!
-
Just like to say a massive congrats to our BenchTec lads, all the sponsors who made the event happen, and the other competitors for being good sports.
As for jabski and bustah - well done guys, you've done us proud.
40 out of a maximum 40 points - love it. :D
-
Thanks to all involved especially the Gigabyte crew...Nigel,Ian,Andrews, Aaron,Jackson and all the other Gigabyte people they were all fantastic hosts and made everyone feel welcomed and comfortable.
The atmosphere at the event was second to none in my experience. every single competitor put on a great show of effort and enthusiasm!
Well done to everyone who competed.
Special thanks to Hi-cookie for coming over from Taiwan to help host the event, it was a pleasure to meet the legend in person.
now im off to tweak my uber Corsair ram kit, thnx to Neil and Corsair! ;D
-
You're such a lucky bum! I wish I could have kept the kit I used. That was some pretty epic stuff!
Cheers Gilgamesh! Suprised no one has posted pics of it yet! ROFL So many people taking photos of it. I think they were as interested as much as they were with people pouring and drinking LN2!
~Bex
-
Just want to say well done to Bench Tec, well deserved and made up for last year ay? ;)
I want to say thank you to Gigabyte, Nigel, Aaron & the crew for hosting an absolute cracking event! Can't wait till next year! Thank you to all the sponsors.. Corsair, that was some beasty RAM!! Wheres mine?! lol..
Well done to all the teams there. It was great to meet you all and put names to faces!
I'm happy with 2nd!

Yep I echo Rawz comments, Rawz and I do not mind coming in 2nd place to benchtec, knowing that a long established crew won and deservedly so! Was great meeting you Bustah and Jabski! See you next year lads! Lastly thasnAlso I wish to thank Bex for coming down from Scotland, Badbonj for being a nice guy, Neil from Corsair (i think it was him whom farted in the taxi)Barry, Nigel, both andrews and Ian Laird. We had great fun the night previous to theOC contest and on theday.
As Rawz said we are happy coming 2nd place to a long established crew; well dont to you lads at benchtec was a real honour in meeting you.
Lastly cheers to my team-mate Raws, we make a brilliant team and considering THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME BOTH of us have ever gone sub-zero and I have had only a couple of weeks to get to grips with that board.

Great comp - thanks guys!
Anyone got the list of places from 4th to 10th though would have been nice to know where we came.

It was a pleasure to meet you and everyone else there, coming 2nd with dice is very impressive! Hopefully over summer I will be able to obtain some LN2, possibly from the university and a pot to try some extreme cooling.
I want to thank Gigabyte, especially Andrew for inviting me to the event, the kit used was very impressive... I really want the 980x now!
-
YOu too buddy.
mate dont forget to get your LN2/DICE pot from www.piotres.com you saw how good the one we used was.

Hi
Again I don't really understand the meaning of your post so maybe you could clarify it please ? This is an old thread that doesn't seem to have any reason to be resurredted now. ???
