Title: Gigabyte GV-N460OC-1GI - DVI Port 2 problem
Post by: Flubbah on October 16, 2010, 12:48:00 pm
Hi

I recently bought a Gigabyte GV-N460OC-1GI and am having difficulty getting the second DVI port to work when running a dual monitor setup.

Here's my setup:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz
MEMORY: 4 GB PC2-6400 DDR2 Corsair
MAINBOARD: ASUSTeK Maximus Formula X38 (BIOS 1302)

Monitors:
Samsung SyncMaster P2470
ViewSonic VA2012w

OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit

Video drivers: NVIDIA 260.63.
Video BIOS version: 70.04.13.00.01
Gfx card clock settings at default speeds.

Connecting either monitor (with their individual cables) to DVI port 1 works fine.
None of the monitors are detected while connected to DVI port 2 (with the other monitor connected to DVI port 1).
Connecting one monitor to DVI port 2 while leaving DVI port 1 unconnected obviously doesnt work either.

While running the dual monitor setup, i've tried detecting the second monitor (usually the ViewSonic) in both the Windows 7 Screen
Resolution settings and with the NVIDIA control panel. Neither is able to detect the second monitor.

As a final comment, i've had no issues running the dual monitor setup with my previous gfx card (a GTX8800) and Windows Vista.

Any thoughts?

My current inclination would be that i've once again hit the 'jackpot' and scored a defective gfx card..

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
I am afraid I would be inclined to agree with your deduction there that the card is faulty. From the tests you have carried out it is eother a faulty card or drivers. There has been quite a few problems with this GPUs drivers recently so maybe it would be worth just cleaning them from the system and try loading some older ones and see if they work.
