Hi

I am afraid that you will need to use some other connection to import the digital sound. That could be a sound card as you have suggested.

You dont need to buy a sound card, Here is a link on the Gigabyte site that has what you need http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/accessory.aspx?cg=2

Yes that would be one of the cheapest ways of getting what you need.

Your motherboard would seem to accept this bracket ok. Try ordering it from your usual Gigabyte retailer.

My motherboard only has 2 pin spdif in so this bracket is no good. I will need to get a pci sound card with spdif in.

If that is correct then my first suggestion of getting a sound card is the only easy choice. :-\
