If you run into situations below when you playing Battlefield 3 with NVIDIA GTX series graphics cards:
1. Crash to desktop
2. Crash and system freeze
3. Appear “Display driver stopped responding and has recovered” error message
Pease try to update your graphics driver to the latest version, NVIDIA official recommended driver for Battlefield 3.

If your system are slow .. (graphics card, CPU, etc)
Of if your graphics card is not compatible with DirectX 11...
Maybe try DirectX 10.1
Remove DirectX11 with Drivers Sweeper, by exemple.
The best are install DirextX before BattleField 3 or any other game...

When you update nVIDIA drivers, Remove all last version of drivers.
Clean with software your Register Base.
Turn off tessellation by settings Terrain Quality to LOW.
And make sure MSAA is off and only use AA POST, med or high should be fine.
If you do not have enough RAM, make sure you have a file pagefile.sys big enough.
