I've just concluded installing a new motherboard with i5-2500K (LGA1155) processor and new 500W MODXTREME Pro power supply. I installed Windows 7 and all the drivers that came with the board, did all the Windows updates and have searched high and low for a solution to the "no audio" issue. I have checked all the usual suspects in control panel, etc. and have even hijacked the wife's sound system to see if that might be the issue, and still, no audio. I can see that it is functioning in windows (i.e., graphic equalizer and audio level indicators are working and showing activity), but no sound at all.
Any help greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Rick

Hi and welcome.
If Windows is showing you that it is indeed working then there is very little wrong with it. Most likely it will be something like the wrong output is selected or you have the speakers in the wrong port. Have you checked to make sure that the audio icon in the system tray hasn't got the "mute" button ticked ?

I give the benefit of other readers, general information.
The HDMI and DisplayPort connections carry audio.
Realtek ALC889 Codec, 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel, Dolby Home Theater, S/PDIF Out
The audio quality (high-end codec, with very high signal-to-noise ratio)

I just want to check if you have hardware like a graphics card AMD Radeon HD 58xx to 69xx Series?
Because these cards manage and support the sound too.
