Title: GA-P55M-UD2 rev1.1
Post by: plc143 on October 25, 2011, 08:24:01 pm
Hi all

i have the above m/board & it has been flawless for the last couple of years.

before i bin it i thought i`d post here to see if there is a solution to my problem.

in the last week it has began to give me a problem on boot up.

bearing in mind that i havent added any new hardware in the last year.

i keep on getting "AHCI BIOS NOT INSTALLED"

it then finds my raid-0 HD`s then hangs on the windows LOGO,so

when this happens i have to reboot a few times or wait for about 10mins then turn it on again.

then when it does then boot up after it has found the AHCI BIOS,it then takes a long time to get to my desktop.

BUT after it does windows runs fine the only problem is now i`m afraid to reboot the pc  :(

it doesnt happen all the time its erratic

thanx for any help.

Hi and welcome.

First thing I would try is to replace the CR2032 battery on the motherboard.  While you have the old one removed follow these instructions for clearing the CMOS thoroughly:

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Hopefully that will make a difference but if you still have any problem please post back. ;)
