Title: GA-h67ma-usb3-b3 and i3 (Ivy Bridge) CPU
Post by: alexo2003 on November 09, 2015, 01:17:34 pm
Hi.

Now I have GA-h67ma-usb3-b3 with Pentium G840 and going to make some upgrade - change CPU to i3. I updated BIOS to the latest version, F8. BIOS description page says that this last version brings support of modern CPU (Ivy Bridge, 1155). But in the page of compatible CPU I can find only i5/i7-3xxx models (Ivy Bridge), but no i3-3xxx (e.g. I interested in i3-3240). As for me it is very strange: mobo does support i5/i7 and is not compatible with i3 of the same family.

Could someone explain me this descripancy and tell me for sure: is Ivy Bridge i3 (3240 or 3220) compatible with mobo h67ma-usb3-b3?

Thank you.

Hi.

Do official representatives of Gigabyte read this forum? Could they answer or post some comments?

I don't understand this silence  >:(. Why Gigabyte is afraid to tell the truth: whether it is inaccuracy in general description of mobo (and BIOS versions), or they made carelessly that table of compatible CPU.

Although this Forum is provided by Gigabyte UK it is actually a user to user forum. They do check it out but generally they do not post here.

Have you actually contacted Gigabyte Tech Support and asked them the question?

I asked first in Russian support forum, but they have some long preview the new posts by forum's administration, so I posted question here. Finaly they answered that table of compatible CPU is right, and in case of possible upgrade one should take into account that table. So, in my case i3 of Ivy Bridge will not work in 67ma-usb3-b3. I have to consider other options of upgrade.
