Title: 7970 ghz buzz
Post by: ursmeloman on February 08, 2013, 08:49:57 am
Hi all.
I just finished building my system.
Gigabyte z77x-ud3h
Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition
Corsair Vengeance 16 GB
Corsair TX750 PSU
i7 3770k.

The problem I am having is with the video card. It starts to buzz when in load and different fan speeds (70%-80%)
If I touch the card when running and put a little pressure on it , it goes away.
Is this thing common? Should I send it to warranty?

Thank you!

I think you are having the same issue many of us are having. I think it may be coil whine, I've got it at the moment and I've spent £240 for my card. You've probably spent more, and it's not worth having to deal with, just RMA the card.

I had the exact same problem with my new 7970 and I replaced the power supply with new Corsair 800W from the 700W I had.

The coil noise dissapeared :)

I can't explain it but system is now silent.
