So why are they removed??? ai flashed F10b...am i any danger regards with that F10 version??? what was wrong with that ver????
-
Hi
Usually BIOS revisions are pulled from the site because they have been found to be tempremental in some respect. The chances of them doing any damage to your system is minimal but that isn't to say they are as stable as they could be.
-
Hi there,
Whilst DM is correct that the usual reason for BIOS versions to be pulled because a problem has been noticed, I don't believe that is the reason this time around as nearly all recent BIOS updates dropped off the update site towards the end of last week and EX58 said there was an error with the Gigabyte site.
The latest BIOS versions for Intel boards are still available from TweakTown and if there was a problem they would also have been removed from there, so I guess we will have to be patient and wait for normal service to be resumed on the download pages.

I have the F10 Beta bios and it's been flawless compared to previous releases, the very first bios update screwed most setting and would cause my pc to not boot when setting ram timing manually to the correct CAS/Speed yet using the XMP profile worked (Exact same setting manual wouldn't boot) plus a few other issues..
Do I really need F10 non beta?
What improvements are there?
Can you guarantee it will work correctly like the current F10b
-
If you do not like a BIOS you can flash back to the older one, so try it out and see if you like it.

These things happen and I am sure that now that you have posted it's shortcomings that they will soon sort it out and you wil be able to flash it again with the updated version.

Hi dev013,
as noted above,I suspect that BIOS is not for your board.
So,I try to make modified same BIOS Ua4 for your board ( Z68AP-D3 rev.2 ):
http://www.mediafire.com/?4g5d463do9xtfc2
If you successfully flashed,BIOS,CPU-Z,ET6 and another software will show Z68P-DS3 Rev 2.0,
so next new BIOS for your board will correct this.
Edit:
You MUST use FLASHEFI included in the file and type proper commands in DOS with Bootable USB Flash Drive to flash.
May need to use /Z or /X switches still, sometimes had to use with SPIFlash (Letter case matters too, so may need to try /Z or /z, ect).
http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/27576-bios-flashing-how-qflash-guide.html
This special FLASHEFI is for all Z68 motherboards,to be flashed with AMI BIOS,as all will get new BIOS ID code.
Good luck!

What utility do you use to do upgrade? I suspect you must use FLASHEFI as stasio mentioned as it is included in the compressed file.

what a mess!! why different MB version will be shown? i don't understand - it never happened before that after bios upgrade you "get" different model name shown on screen

Just received AMI BIOS for Z68X-UD3H-B3 - U1E . ;D
http://www.mediafire.com/?8xu46rmwtez7da8
This is Colin from GIGABYTE. We are busily coding new UEFI BIOSes that will fully support as we speak.
First ones in the pipe are are for the Z68X-UD3H-B3 and Z68AP-D3. We are testing those right now and if all is ok we will release to public this week. For other boards such as Sniper 2, we will release as completed, but I have already requested Sniper 2 as next priority.
Since the memory size of the BIOS chip is smaller, the new BIOS will only feature advanced mode, not the graphical 3D mode.

Yeh just make sure they put the name of their bios file in there for their board.
Also Logitech G510 does not work in this bios. Needed to use PS2 keyboard :'(

Hi,
Flashed my Z68X-UD3H-B3 with the U1e bios. It's working but I got some issue's
-no vcore/llc settings for my sandy?
-sli does not work
-boot override does nothing
backup bios seems to be destroyed by flash procedure, it erased, wrote and verified twice. alt-f12 just brings up the boot menu like I pressed just f12
so did I miss something, or is there no way back, and I just have to wait for an update?

Multi unlocked!!!

As this Z68 AMI BIOS are still in testing stage, shift from Award to AMI brand (many of us put effort on this) is very complicated.
So far, no major issue (as bricking BIOS chips...Asus,etc....) has been reported.

HAHA wasn't expecting perfection off the bat. Glad to get away from award and about time! Just goes to show that Gigabyte IS looking after its customers with previous revision boards.

Just updated my GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 to the U1a EFI BIOS and thought I would share a couple of points.
Make sure when using the FLASHEFI.EXE that you type the command exactly for the BIOS file name. At the C:\ prompt it should be:"FLASHEFI xxxxxxxx.xxx" the x's denote the BIOS file name (for my motherboard the command line was FLASHEFI Z68XUD3.U1A) and remember to use the fullpoint or FLASHEFI won't read the file and you will get an error.
Before updating the BIOS re-set original BIOS to Optimised Defaults.
Once you have updated to the EFI BIOS and restarted your PC once again load Optimised BIOS then after restarting you can enter BIOS using the "Del" key to make changes.
When you have made the changes and BOOT your PC, if you are using Windows, then the OS will need to reload drivers and a restart will be required.
Upgrading to EFI BIOS will require you to reactivate Windows.
As has been previously mentioned, this BIOS is still in development and some of the features are not fully functioning yet, so I would advise only upgrading if you are prepared for this eventuality (especially if you are O/C'ing) at basic default settings the BIOS is working fine.
TouchBIOS doesn't seem to work with the EFI BIOS ...... yet.
hope this helps.
Thanks to all those at Gigabyte who are working hard to roll out these new BIOS updates. I really appreciate your efforts.
-
Thanks for your nice and usefull information absic. ;D
-
Hi absic,
I too upgraded my board yesterday and found that there were a few little annoyances. On the whole it seemed fine but certain bits didn't work like you already said. The synchronisation of the two BIOS chips doesn't seem to work yet as by pressing ALT+F12 it responds as if only F12 was pressed. Also TouchBIOS doesn't seem to be functioning properly yet. Still it is a work in progress so it is to be expected. ;)
-
Hi Guys!!
Just thought I'd drop ya a tip since a few users seemed to be concerned with this, and I know many of you are not yet familiar with AMI BIOS. ;)
ALT + F10 for AMI X79/Z77 (Unsure about Z68 BIOS, have not tested - but I assume it's the same) ;D
-
Is there any problems with the Gigabyte forum on TweakTown? is it down on and off or is it just me??
Hi Lsdmeasap nice to see you again. I have a question about wether or not you would go ahead and flash the backup bios (Z68) to the UEFI one or keep it? Also would it be even possible to flash the new Bios back from the backup?
I hope that's not a silly question. I haven't taken my meds yet LOL
-
Thanks to all for your feedback about new UEFI bioses, really appreciate
Hi Fatman
I also cannot enter TT forum, the same problem was reported a week ago by some other user.
Maybe it's overloaded now (I mean DOS error) due to so many people want to get there new bioses? ;)
-
Okay, here are my findings on Z68X-UD3H-B3-r1.3 and the U1E bios for it:
The backup bios is flashed over by flashefi.exe, the flashing procedure can be seen repeated twice, and the rescue procedure with the power button and and switch confirm that, restoring from backup also gives the uefi one, there is no way back it seems. (edit: did not know about the ctrl/alt f10 but suppose those are the keys now?)
Everything seems to be there, except the vcore and llc settings, the mem section is extended with some parameters that are new to me and where not there in the award bios. The autopilot of the mem section seems to do a better job than before, at first I could not run 2133 w everyting at auto, now it gave me c9-13-13-36,1t and passed memtest too at that setting.
Non of the gigabyte apps will install anymore, it's either 'not a gigabyte board' or 'chipset not supported' when running the ap. ET6 (preinstalled) was working, but without the vcore so I decicded to try and upgrade, after removing the current one the new one would not install anymore.
SLI is not working, have the two cards in, but no way to set them to SLI from windows, reinstalled the drivers ofcourse, but still no luck, could not find settings in bios for it either.
Setting all the multi's in the advanced section does not work like it used to, seems it only reacts to the main multiplier setting.
I'm at 4ghz/2133 not bad at all, but the lack of vcore and sli is holding me back a bit, but I suppose these are in the works, and will work in later updates. It's a pitty the gigabyte soft and other soft like aida stopped working, but it seems these are mainly detection issues that can be fixed by updated apps. (edit: hwinfo64 is working)
All in all it's a refreshing update to me, but I'm hoping the vcore and sli will be fixed soon.

so i see a beta bios for the Z68XP-UD3 and UD4

I hate to say this, but when it does come out, don't flash to it yet as there are some issues that really need to be addressed!!
Since I have flashed to the UEFI on my Z68XP-UD4 I have had quite a few issues and intermittent BSODS with critical code errors. I may need to re-load my OS yet, but, I'm not sure if that will resolve some of these problems I'm now having.
So don't flash yet.......... :-\
-
Yes I would agree in principle. If it is your main system and you use it for work or games with multiple GPUs etc then it is probably best to wait for now. On a secondary machine it really is no problem and gives something to play around with.
-
To me it seems like once the vcore, llc and internal-pll are back it's a decent bios, oh and the sli ofcourse.
Haven't seen any bsod yet, and tested quite a lot at 4ghz/def. vcore, prime small&blend, linx, 3dm and some games. 8 and 16gb of samsungs, 8gb vengeanceLV all did fine. Also tested siting idle for a couple of hours, since in the past I've seen machines benching fine but giving bsod at idle, but it's doing okay.
So now it's just waiting for the next one or a way back, I suppose. I'm quite imressed by what's done already, so I'm hoping for a quick release.

-
Fatman: So you flashed too, Did you get vcore control? I didn't. Any luck with solving your bsod's?
Yes I flashed also. I kinda wish I had of held off as I have had some issues. Like you I have no control for Vcore or Memory voltages.
I had a bsod yesterday again to do with 'critical code error' with the machine idling. But nothing I can reproduce as it is a random occurrence. I have even noticed that steam says I am playing from another computer LOL.
-
I have lock up and it's random when i surf the net after a while it locks up, also i have not updated my bios past the last official bios release, all i did was install i5-3570k in a z68a-d3-b3. :'(
-
Okay well I had the idle random bsod too when I started with this board, esp. when oc-ed and using powersavings. Passing prime and linx for hours and then suddenly a bsod when out for dinner. But when I just set the max turbo's to forex. 45x and left the main multi at default, voltage did not droop that much on idle, and the bsods stopped comming. So I concluded vcore just drops too much on idle.
Now one would think -it's wasting power- sitting there at 1600-4500 with vcore not going below 1.286v but the cpu-power sensor is showing the same Wattage (<10W) as if the cpu was at 0.8v (thinking ohms law, W=V*A, this can happen if more Amps where flowing with the lower voltage/less Amps at the higher voltage) so that situation was actually not that bad, it terms of Watts and heat.
With the new bios this approach does not work, setting all the turbo's without adjusting the main multi does nothing.
Oh and I could set vdimm with the new one, as almost any other voltage, it's just the vcore and interal-pll-overvoltage I'm missing, the other ones seem teo be there. Perhaps because this z68x is already at the E version (U1e) and yours is still at A.
-
My version is U1B.........
-
Well if the codes mean anything like before U1b is an earlier rev. than U1e, perhaps explaining why you have even less control.
I guess next rev. is comming up soon, already tried if flashing back would work from qflash or flashspi, but it says it can't. I know it could be forceflashed, but the outcome is too uncertain for me, so I'll just wait ... a bit...
I've made an album at imgur of most bios pages now: http://imgur.com/a/RZTkF#0 for those interested.

if so, is there a time window for this? is there anything we can do ?

Heads up for Speedfan users that are considering the EFI upgrade for Sandy Bridge boards: After upgrading to U1B om my Z68XP-UD4 Speedfan consistenly BSODs.
Besides the loss of some OC funtionality it's been working smooth. One improvement over the legacy Bios is that the my IDE DVD-R drive connected via a IDE-to-SATA adaptor is consistently detected now, which was not the case before: it spent 30 sec looking for the device until giving up whenever doing a warm re-boot. Looking forward to further upgrades.

Hi there,
for some reason, still as yet unknown, Gigabyte removed all of the AMI BIOSes for the 6 series boards. So the best advice I can offer is to stick with the award BIOS for now and wait until Gigabyte re-releases them.
I did update to the U1a AMI BIOS for my own motherboard (GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3) and have had lots of reboot, shutdown and other issues with it. So far, I have been able to struggle through and I am quite prepared to beta test but, with hindsight, I wish I hadn't switched to the AMI BIOS so quickly.
-
Likewise I did the same on the motherboard that I am now in the middle of testing/reviewing. It is the G1.Sniper M3 a microATX board. So far I haven't had any problems with it as far as the UEFI BIOS is concerned but as Gigabyte pulled all the AMI BIOSes I was expecting more problems. Certain boards seem to be suffering more than others.
-
When i start flashing my Z68XP-UD4 to U1B, it says he clear, he writes, he verifies the new bios then it show me this: fixture is not removed or switch is not set to "on" Press any key to exit, but my sistem is frozen so i tured it off and then on but im still stuck to award bios... any solution pls ?
The reason it did not work for you is because you did it incorrectly!! Which is a good thing because that (AMI) Bios is not fully functioning and has caused a lot of issues for those who have successfully flashed to it.
I know I have flashed to it and wish I could go back and undo it, but alas I cannot. So be greatful you are 'stuck' with the award Bios for now.

from tweaktown - yes, but not from here :)
maybe stasio has different relation with gigabyte than runn3r
-
I think that stasio actually writes some of the BIOS code. I am not sure but that would explain why the fast availablity of it from his end.

It would be really nice of you if you would explain me how to flash. I booted in to DOS via USB STICK, then executed flasheufi and he automatically started doing stuff. SO please tell me how to.

Hi again,
In the FAQ section of the forum here is a detailed account of the necessay steps you need to take.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks, upgraded to Uefi. Many problems fixed since installing the 3570k. The new bios is nice. Thanks !
-
I agree and am please to hear that your flash upgrade went well. Personally I too like mine but I probably wouldn't feel quite the same if I had a lot of problems due to it. I am sure that al these issues will be ironed out as things move along anyway. Glad to be able to help. 8)

What is the latest bios for the X58A-UD3R rev 1.0 motherboard?
-
The latest version for your motherboard on the Gigabyte website is F8A. It is a beta IOS but that shouldn't stop you from using it. They are normally stable if they make it to the manufacturer's website.

I contacted GIGABYTE, and I was told that within the next few days, there is going to be released a new BIOS (didn't answer me whether UEFI or not), with full Ivy Bridge support.

Updated to F11j on my GA-X79-UD7, pleased to report that it solved many issues I was having including not being able to access BIOS from my USB keyboard and Marvell controller not properly initializing ports 8 and 9 resulting in a frozen boot.
Highly recommend anyone with this board obtain this Beta BIOS and install.

Hey guys,
I have updated my BIOS to "Z68XP-UD4 - U1B". Since updating I now cannot get into the BIOS. Sometimes it kinda loads and you will get half of the screen. But then it sits there and you cant do anything.
I cant get to the boot list either as thats within the BIOS. I have tried flashing back using FLASHEFI and SPI and they both say this isnt a Gigabyte board, @BIOS says the same.

Any help is appriciated.

Hi
I think that your BIOS might have been corrupted when you ran the update. Did you use @BIOS for the task ?
Try doing this to get back to your old BIOS.
To restore the Main BIOS by flashing from the Backup BIOS you simply follow these steps but be aware timing is crucial so it may take a few attempts.
You can kick in the backup BIOS by shutting down the PSU from the wall, then hold down your case power button in and then turn on the power supply button, a few seconds later the board will start, shut off the power supply then. Then you can turn on the power supply again and power up the board normally and DualBIOS will kick in.
If you still have problems then :
Boot from the second BIOS, if you can't boot to windows on the main one, then ALT+F10 on startup from the second BIOS on a reboot from windows, this will reflash the MAIN BIOS with the backup BIOS you'd be booting from.
-
Thanks,
Tried the steps you mentioned.
Power off at the PSU,
hold down power button,
turn PSU back on
Power starts and then the goes off.
Power off the PSU
Release the power button.
Power on the PSU
boot into BIOS.
Got a message saying my BIOS was corrupt and it went through some repair thing. Rebooted the PC but still have the new BIOS and still have the same problem.
I didnt use @BIOS for the upgrade. I used FLASHEFI booted from a USB.

Do we have any news for the Z68-UD7?
A few weeks ago I was told that by the end of June the new BIOS would have been released, but as anyone can see, there is no BIOS with full IB support!
What worries me most, is that there isn't even a single beta version of the new BIOS, as it was done for the UD3/4 models.

Hi fellas, hey i worked out how to fully use the beta uefi bios for my z68xp ud3p, i can now OC my ivy bridge!!
I found out you can manually enter the desired figures, i thought it would be a drop down type menu.
Anyways i'm very happy (got some 2133 dominator gt ram installed now too), only thing is i can't set the cpu voltage, but that's fine for now, currently @ 4.2Ghz with my 3570K.
Thanks again for the beta bios!

Edit: couldn't reach 4.5GHz with the auto voltage, but 4.4GHz seems to be going fine. : )

I got the same mobo, flashed it to the beta bios and i can now OC my 3570k, however there's no cpu voltage control and cause we have a sli /crossfire capable mobo the pcie x16 lane is bumped down to x8.
IMO the beta uefi bios is better than the award even with these limitations, my 2133 ram is now at 2400MHz and with the Ivy cpu overclocked now it feels really nice.
I'm wondering cause i'm using a gtx 580 if the z77 upgrade would be justifiable, just to use pcie x16 speeds, the x8 > x16 scaling for 1080 gaming is next to nothing, at least on gen 2 GPUs.

There are a few features that are missing, mostly voltage options, but yeah i tried the ivy bridge on the award and it wasn't good, couldn't overclock cpu beyond 3.8, the uefi will let you get to 4.4 with auto voltage and in general it's the better bios for your cpu.
If gigabyte give us the option to control cpu voltage on these boards i'm gonna invest in a nice cooler. : )

Which voltages do you now get in idle and at full load? I noticed quite a large vdroop on this board, ~0.04v. That is strange to me because it has a good voltage regulation with 12 phases.

Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P. I don't want to use BETA UEFI because there is some important missing parts, like CPU voltage etc.
I just want to know roughly when you will get an official UEFI.

I just want to know roughly when you will get an official UEFI.
Patience my friend. There is (almost) nothing else you can do. And you must feel "happy" cause for your your model Gigabyte has realeased a pre beta BIOS. For my motherboard (Z68X-UD7) there is no BIOS at all. Paying 300€ for the high-end model, and having no support at all, when the rest of the vendors have full IB support for their mobos. That's why my UD7 is on sale, and that's why Im never gonna trust Gigabyte again. And I'm really sorry to say that, cause I've trusting Gigabyte since 2003.
But a month ago, they preferred to reply to my ticket that "since the end of June the BIOS would have been released". As anyone can see, this is nothing more than a ridiculous lie. I think that they should treat their customers with more respect and answer them with a little more sincerity.
Gigabyte has focused on the Z77 models which is something completely rational. But what is totally irrational, is leaving the rest of your s1155 models with no support. And I believe that three months (since the IB launch), is A LOT of time.

As i've posted before, with my z68 board coupled with Ivy Bridge CPU my main PCIE lane with a gtx 580 has been castrated to x8 speed.

This morning I put the beta UEFI and I have no problem with PCIe x16. (http://upload.slike.com/slike/nbUa.png)
If you put GPU with PCIe gen. 3 you will get that speed only if you have Z68XP-UD3P rev. 1.3, 1.0 only has PCIe 2.0.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I'l bet it's cause you're using AMD card.
I'm using i5 onboard GPU, same thing. Kind of disappointed at GB at this point, I thought we'd get a polished UEFI for an official release.

Hmm, try this:
1. Download newest version of GPU-Z.
2. You have in UEFI one setting for PCIe, try changing that to gen. 1, gen. 2 and gen. 3.
3. And last, maybe its power saving feature. Try stress GPU with for example Furmark and then look at GPU-Z.
Also my card is Gigabyte, its maybe because of that. ;D
-
hehe i tried a few things earlier, latest Gpu z, setting the gen x setting to 'auto' (it was on gen3 before and i've tried gen2 also).
However this is a known problem and Gigabyte are the only mobo maker to officially recognize it, they say it's cause the board is SLI /crossfire capable.
there have been other reported issues with gen 3 nvidia gpus and gen 3 mobos so that's why i think it's cause of your card, basically AMD has more compatibility with gen3 right now.

Wait, is your UD3P rev 1.0 or rev. 1.3?

Using Ivy bridge with my gtx 580 and z68 rev.1 mobo my pcie1 lane is borked to x8 speed.
what am i to do buy another board so i can get my x16 speed back? or buy a gen3 GPU and get my x16 speed back?
The sweeter option is the GPU and the 7970 lightning has dropped ÂŁ100 the last while ...
option 1
gtx 580 + g1 sniper3 /UP5 TH
option 2
7970 lightning + z78xp ud3p
option 2 is best right?, 1.5gb of VRAM is low these days, i don't want to be forced into buying mobo to get x16 speed back, i'll just go for gen3 gpu and hope i get gen3(the option in bios is there) x16 but will be happy for now with gen2 x16.
anyways you think i could get gen3 x16 GPU speeds with this mobo i have if i had gen3 gpu?
I'll get mobo sooner than later if i can't get gen3 on the z68xp ud3p rev.1

When SATA3 / USB 3.0 (Marvell 9128 /NEC USB 3.0 Controllers) work at turbo mode, 1st PCIE x16 will work at x8 speed.
Hi i use one sata3 ssd and one sata2 ssd, and i have a usb3 external drive that's sometimes plugged in.
But what is this turbo mode? i don't use the marvell port on my mobo.
Many thanks.
Edit: i have no option in bios to disable the sata3 usb3 turbo feature.
-
Broadwell thanks for your help, my friend.
Gigabyte i've been reading up about the sata3 /usb - pcie x8 nerf, what happens if i throw a gen3 card into this board, still gen2 x8 speeds?
On the mobo's info page it says it supports gen3 cpu and gpu.
'Designed for PCI Express Gen.3 Support'
http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3912#ov
I hope the g1 sniper3 doesn't have this crappy 'feature', use sata3 and your pcie speeds get nerfed to x8, what?
uPDATE:
After having re-flashed then familiarized myself more with th bios i've managed to optimize it nice like it was before.
After installing my sata3 drive a few weeks ago my gaming performance dropped and boot up times got horribly slow, however that's now been fixed by adjusting some bios settings, so some things must have been set wrong or enabled when they shouldn't have been.
Still on x8 speed but i have my games running nice and snappy again.
(i disabled the marvell controller and things like that).
but still, can this board run a gen3 gpu @ gen3 pcie speed?

Does the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H-WB really have that much less power loss to run 0.3v lower than the Asrock and Intel? if so this will be great for Ivy Bridge as they will run hotter then the Sandy Bridges do

Ignore PCI-E 1.1 on GTS 450, it's power saving feature, when you run some 3D application it jumps to 2.0.
Please try this - download newest intel chipset driver and install it. Tell us the results when you do it. ;)

I installed it then had a hard time loading windows, there's an updated version just released so i'm gonna try that.

However i suspect the x8 speeds are a bios bug.

Anyone has USB 2.0 problem with the UEFI BIOS? Mine stop working after update to the new bios. My board is GA-Z68X-UD3H. The 2 USB ports in the back are not working anymore despite there are another 2 but working fine. I looked at the BIOS and notice there are several option about EHCI and AHCI, along with USB 2.0 Controller. I enabled all of them, but they still don't work anymore. USB 2.0 at front still working as well as USB 3.0. Also, I noticed that there isn't a AHCI checkup after the POST screen. For previous BIOS, there was an checkup to load AHCI devices, but now it is gone. I don't even know if AHCI is working or not.

Z68xp ud3p - any news about new bios?
*i plan to pick up a gigabyte z77 soon but what the hey!, been waiting on this for weeks now. : )
-
You can update the BIOS, enable the latest version. Please learn some voltage to your RAM. To overclock Gigabyte gets to adjust your BIOS settings. Note that when trying to overclock some changes to the BIOS will be enabled and make adjustments when the system tries to adapt to change.

Hi
Yes we usually recommend using QFlash or FLASHSPI as opposed to the Windows application @BIOS because of safety issues. You can of course use a bootable CD with the neccessary files on instead of a USB pendrive if you would rather.

Hi. Can someone tell me if I upgraded from F8 to F14 on my GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard whether I would lose my overclocking profiles that are saved in the bios ? Thanks.
-
If you flash on same BIOS...yes.
As you have BIOS switch, you can always flash other BIOS then working.
Btw,
BIOS (with profiles) or only BIOS profiles can be saved also on FAT32 USB flash drive.

Hi. I am a bit of a newbie with bios, can you explain a bit more ? My PC was overclocked by the company I bought it from, they had 2 bios profiles, one STOCK and the other OC. So if I save those to a USB stick I can just reload them and it will work exactly as before ? The reason I want to try the new bios is I am having USB 3.0 issues, I contacted Gigabyte support 4 days ago but the message is showing as unread still, so I thought I would try and fix it myself by trying the obvious.
Also can you explain what you mean by I have a BIOS switch ? Sorry for sounding so clueless.

Thanks, ex58, i tried the f8 bios on the z77x up4 th, it has more thunderbolt options but needs a tiny bit more juice to reach stable 4.8GHz on the cpu.
I had the f8 bios running all day yesterday and overall the f7 seems better for me, even in gaming, i guess the extra heat produced from the upped voltage was causing issues, or perhaps it was due to thunderbolt having some dedicated ram? - an option not present in f7.
All the same i'm very happy with f7, i get my gen3 GPU sent today (a 4gb 680, i was so close to getting the gigabyte SOC but wanted the extra vram).
Looking forwards to running full gen3 system. Thanks again, Gigabyte. : )

Hello, DM, well yeah it's been a few days now and no probs at all.
I had to set PWM phase control in the bios to 'balanced' instead of the default 'auto' so my games wouldn't crash.
Now i got a very nice cpu OC and my gpu is running gen3 x16 gaming is a complete joy again, i get 56fps average in the arkham city benchmark with all the important stuff maxed like PhysX and detail level, before i was getting around 52fps average.
One thing i noticed is that my minimum frames are nowheres near as low as they were with my old gen2 system (z68, 2500k, gtx580).
My z77x up4 th mobo has tied all this new hardware together nicely and i couldn't be happier with it. : )

-
Hi, will the Z68AP-D3 Rev 1.0 get UEFI bios in the future? I saw the Rev 2.0 has UEFI on the gigabyte support d/l.
The only difference is Rev 2 has PCIe 3.0 while Rev 1 has PCIe 2.0.
(All PCI Express x16 slots conform to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)
* To support PCI Express 3.0, you must install an Intel 22nm CPU. (http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4015#sp)
Did you ever get an answer to this?

Hi
You can look on the website where you found the BIOS version but it might not actually have much in the way of a changelog. I'm afraid Gigabyte are not big on this type of thing and often it is a case of install and then see what has changed. You might have to google any settings you don't understand.

Z68AP-D3 Rev. 1.0 - U1A (UEFI)
I have been hoping for a UEFI bios for my version 1.0 board for sometime and found the above detailed in post 1 of this thread.
Currently running F8
Using QFlash an error message is returned "bios id check error" and hence the flash fails.
I have tried multiple downloads (in case of corruption) without success.
Can I be updated with a newer version that will work with my board?
Many thanks in advance!
-
As an update to the earlier post above do I need to use the FLASHEFI utility and not QFlash to update to the UEFI version?
Thanks
-
Hi there, YES! If you want to change from the AWARD BIOS to the AMI UEFI BIOS you need to use the flashefi utility. Once you have switched to the AMI BIOS you can then use QFlash for further updates.
Check her for further info: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,7410.msg70474.html#msg70474
-
Thanks for your help!
Successfully flashed to the UEFI but decided to revert back to the F8 with the efi2award flash utility
as apart from the nice interface there seemed to more options missing than gained especially regarding
LLC and voltage control options(offset)
As a general question do you think these 4mb flash memory boards will have limited UEFI capabilties
going forward?
Perhaps the user is probably better to stick with the award bios?
Thanks again

Hi Marvell 9128 of UD5 and UD7 is not ready. We will push it to the top priority possible. So the UD5 and UD7 boards are to get a UEFI BIOS. 8) It's just a question of waiting. :)

Z77x-UP5 TH F12e BIOS has some issues with the Qpad Mk85 keyboard where by it doesn't give the board power in time to enter BIOS.

Any idea on how I can provide Gigabyte feedback on this BIOS? It has a serious problem with reading the CPU temperature and running the CPU fan... I tried to register on TT but their site is broken and calls me a spammer...
-
The feedback about any bios can be provided officially to our FAE team through submitting the ticket at: http://ggts.gigabyte.com/
-
cmon guys, we paid a lot for Z68X-UD7-B3 and no uefi bios yet.... cheaper models already have... they boot faster :p
-
I have just had to update Bios on G1 Sniper M3 to the Beta Version F10c so that Windows 8 64 bit can run with the Lan built in system.
Until I did this I could not get a network on Boot up.
There is also an issue with the PS2 port the manual says a Mouse OR Keyboard I cannot get it to work in Windows 8 but I can in Linux?

What board & why did you update it?
Oups sorry for this one
The board is Z68XP-UD3 V.1.3 and the reason why I update the bios ! I'm still asking myself ;-) but seriously my system was sluggish after updating a few system file I thought to myself why not, and I flash hundred's of bios and what happen this time i never saw this.
So I was wondering if there is a trick to reset the bios to a previous state, cause I read somewhere, there is a second bios on the board and there should be a way to recover something.
can someone help me on this one
thanks in advance

Will we see any updates for the ga-x79-ud3 which already has ami efi bios to enable fast boot, add ahci efi drivers, an efi shell etc..?
-
Hey guys. I have a GA-Z68XP-UD3 (rev. 1.3) motherboard. I updated it with the new UEFI BIOS. I use it because I love the easier UI and hardrive support, and specifically faster boot time.
The first version I installed was version U1g. Everything worked perfectly, except Dolby Home Theatre stopped functioning. I tried everything to get it working, but failed. I then contacted Gigabyte and all they could suggest was going back to Award BIOS. I thought I could sacrifice Dolby for a while until they released an update.
They then release version U1j, and I flashed my motherboard to that. Finally, they fixed Dolby, and I was happy. Then I noticed, that my RAM was clocked to 1333MHz. I had my XMP profile activated to get me 1600MHz, but the BIOS would not seem to change it. I even tried manually overclocking the memory to 1600MHz and even further, but, the system would not read a change. Then when I booted into Windows, my available physical memory read as 7.69GB instead of 8GB. I even made sure that internal graphics was disabled. Contacted Gigabyte again, and all they could say again, was to revert back.
Now I am back on U1g. Really annoying. Wish they were faster at releasing updates, and checked them before release. Is anyone else having these same issues? And have you been able to fix them? ???

hi, i have successfully upgrade the legacy bios to uefi..
but now i am having problem not being able to enter bios setup..
everything else just works fine..
glad if someone cant help or is this a known bug?

Change USB port or use PS/2 keyboard (or extension) when pressing DEL.
-
i already tried that method still having the same problem
-
ok, guys, I put an question in GGTS, but my question wasn't answered til now.
I have an mobo GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 - rev 1.3, and I'd like to update my bios from f12 to uefi ( U1l ) that is the newwst bios to my mobo.
but I tried all the ways I found on the NEt, all the programs to usb bootable, and this part worked, what not worked was the update.
I was always receiving a message like " fixture is not removed or swiitch is not set to ON".
after all I used my usb drive in a USB port sata 2 ( sata 3 did not work ) and the process was normal, and my PC restarted, but was again in f12.
what I did wrong ?
I'd like very much to upgrade to this new bios.
-
ok, I used the q-flash, but this doesn't work too.
I cleared cmos to original, but even doing that, doesn't work.
I think this should be simple
-
Hi there,
no, it's not simple and you are not alone in struggling with updating from Award to AMI BIOS.
Check here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,7410.msg70474.html#msg70474 as I go through the process a little bit and it may well help.
BUT, consider why you are wishing to update the BIOS.
If it is so you can run a newer processor then I would say go for it but, if it is just because you like the look of the UEFI BIOS and you think you will gain something then I would advise against it. This is only a personal view though, gained from my own experiences with the GA-Z68 X-UD3P-B3 and running an i5 2500k CPU.
-
Hi.
Can I get the bios files for my Z77 board that are not in .exe format from some were? I'm using Ubuntu so exe is no good.
edit / Why not use zip then every O.S. can open & use.?
edit2 / O.K. so I got it opened by installing p7zip & using it to open the exe.

Hello everyone,
I've downloaded the U1A update for my GA-Z68AP-D3 rev.1 MB, and it doesn't include the FLASHEFI utility.
Can anyone point me where can I download? I've found lots of matches on Google but there are warnings to only use the FLASHEFI.exe bundled with the BIOS update.
Thank you!!

Maybe some on here can tell if Gigabyte will release UEFI BIOS for
Z68X-UD5-B3 ?
Wait is annoying since cheaper models already have UEFI if I'm correct ;)
-
Does anyone know what the typical timescale is between a Beta BIOS release, and its 'final' counterpart?
My Z77-D3H is at F18, which was the last final (i.e. non-beta) release. There was a beta BIOS (F19g) released in November 2012, but it's been in beta for almost a year now.

U1a and U1b has been released, but failed, due to board hardware incompatibilities with UEFI BIOS.

Thanks for the reply. :)
I did see the post above that states F21 is available, however when I looked on TT forums the impression I got was that it's another Beta BIOS, is that not correct though? I was also just puzzled why Gigabyte's official download pages still show F19g as the latest release - don't they always update their pages?
-
Mostly of Z77 BIOS's on GB web page is from 2012.
They has been very busy with Z87 and now with X79 BIOS.....so maybe they will update web page soon.
-
Any change we're going to ever see a production released BIOS for the G1.Assassin2 X79 Montherboard that actually support the latest intel SATA eRST / iRST code? ...and a updated device ID so that we can actually update the Sound Blaster drivers?
It's all nice the people are hacking together firmware, but it be really nice if Gigabyte took some responsibility and fixed these issues.
This IS causing issues, as I just go done building a cluster computer at a University, and we ended up going with a competitor's standard motherboard series for exactly this reason. About $500,000 worth of motherboards alone....

I have X79-UP4 and updated with the latest F4 bios.
Since i have done it i cannot overclock my 3930k at all.
Changing CPU ratio from 32 to anything else has no effect at all.
Now i want to revert back to an older bios but i cant.
Q-Flash says the bios i want to flash is outdated and @BIOS also says i cannot flash.
What can i do?

You've got to be joking.
How are they the 10 SATA controllers? Using a non-intel SATA controller with poor input... the details we not exactly clear.
Anyway: So the answer is is "buy a new $350.00 motherboard?" Wow. Now I'm really glad we didn't use their motherboards.

Try to flash with modded BIOS F4,which you will found here:

As is some Intel Microcode added and updated.

I have tried 4-5 different BIOS but still face the same problem.
I disable intel turbo boost and all energy saving features and i just change the main ratio from 32 to 39-40-41 , no matter what i set when i reboot and re-enter bios the max i see is 3800 instead of eg 4000.
Dunno what to do
Any suggestions?

Is there a good place to read reviews or more detailed reports about the changes between different BIOS updates?
I've got a Z77x.D3H rev 1.0 and am still using the F16 BIOS, I like to know if there were any major "ground-braking" changes since then before i switch. Specifically speaking about the stability issues that many have been having with it. I'm thankful for any input, and sorry if this is not the right place to ask such a question.

Issue is same through X58->X79 Boards. I can't understand why it's not fixed at least X58 forced QPI/VTT worked. This has nothing to do of overclocking it doesn't work even x12 underclocked, lol. Supply voltages are not high enough for board to keep up through POST.

Your problem seems more of an something like driver signature issue than actual none functional issues and should be fixed as ex58 there suggests with new drivers or if absolutely most simply by installing forcefully unsigned driver.
Although, you are correct on 'customer care', heck, haven't been able to connect to Gigabyte forums at all after I reported real issue in these forums seems even my neighbors wireless can connect to 'Gigabyte.co.uk'-website but not from my IP ever since i linked topic plus asked support for their badly configured BIOS.
Currently connecting through PROXY at Argentina, lol.

Getting really tired of these problems with my board and having to google all day long just because people who know things don't make things easier for people who don't know things.

I have GA-Z77X-UD3H (rev. 1.1) I updated from F20d to F20e and now the bios will not detect P0 (Where my Windows7 OS is located). It will only detect P1 (Windows 8 Drive). Since F20d is no longer available on the Gigabyte site, I had to downgrade to F19e and everything is working again. I have 2 SSD's installed (1 for Windows7 (P0) and 1 for Windows8 (UEFI P1)) and will set the bios to boot to which ever system that I am using, but again, once I updated to F20e, the bios will not show P0 as an available boot option.

I have just got a B85M-D3H motherboard and notice the BIOS version is F8. I looked for any updates and there is F9 which has support for new Haswell processors. Since I have a Haswell i7 4770 should I update?
-
Hi there,
this is a regular question and the best advice is to tell you that, if everything is working OK with your system then you don't need to update the BIOS. As the old adage goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
-

Thanks, good advice. But then my mobo has the DualBIOS feature which would rescue me even if I screwed up, right?
As for the notes of F9 saying "Support for new Haswell CPus" it COULD mean i7 4790 not i7 4770.]
-
Probably wishful thinking with regard to the 4790 as, looking at the CPU support list: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4567 the F9 is for a couple of the Celeron processors.

Well thanks a lot - saved me from an unnecessary and risky update for nothing.
I thought it might fix my mouse being slow (even when set to full speed) in the BIOS.
My last mobo allowed the mouse to be far speedier (B85M-D2V).

Well with having DualBIOS protection I thought I'd just go ahead and transition from F8 - F9. Used @BIOS and it was a breeze!
Still have a slow mouse in BIOS though.

Since I had found the issue after loading F9 Bios code into my Z87X-OC, I am looking for the latest F9 code ( or later beta-code).
The issue is :
1) "Load Profile and save Profile" are not collectedly run. It did the pass-thru without any functional activities.
2) It it helpful me that 2560x1440 (16:9) is formerly supported as a chice of screen resolutions. But the failure on the load/Save profile function is BIG Bug for me.
Ps help if someone has already resolved this issue.

hi
and UEFI BIOS for GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 ??? ??? ??? ???
I too would like to know if there has been any progress on a UEFI build for z68x UD7 B3?
Especially since most of the other z68x boards have already received some level of UEFI support.
I have look through this forum and am making my way through the TT forum.
Any information you can provide will be helpful. There are certain OS features that I would like to use that only work with UEFI BIOS.
Thank you in advance.
-
I think will be no any new BIOS for Z68 series......
-
Thank you for the reply. At least it's a pretty concrete answer. I was reading one of your other posts about BIOS chip size on z68 boards. Besides that were there other reasons for a lack of full UEFI support?
-
All hardware on the P67/Z68 boards are specific, based on AWARD BIOS (CPU and PWM controller,etc..).
So,to implement UEFI BIOS was been big ordeal.
Second limitation is BIOS chip size .

I know these are Beta BIOS updates but I wonder if there is somewhere to find out what advantage there is in using them? I have heard that the Samsung XP941 will not boot on my Z97X Gaming3 board and was wondering if this was going to address this issue?

I change the BIOS default and save changes.
Then only active the XMP and nothing more.
I've been testing the F8 BIOS with Prime 95 for 5 hours and all right.
With that BIOS already does not apply strap

You should replace CPU Microcode.......bellow is modded BIOS F6 with Microcode from F6h:

Just reflash your BIOS F6 again with modded F6.

Is there a graphical or more recent bios for the z68 ud5 b3 than f10
My multiplier is locked at 39 as a max which would be a pain as is but worse than that none of the settings i make to it aside from turning off turbo make any difference at all, ive got a suppport ticket out but no reply as of yet, I only purchased the 3770k recently as it was supposed to be supported but i see other boards got bios's more recently than mine at least just based on those available on the gigabyte support page.
I had a 2500k oc'd on this board for years so I know my board is capable but with the 3770k and the 300 quid i spent after being assured by my cpu support list for my motherboard is in a reasonable number of situations getting worse performance than my oc'd 2500k.
Anyone got any ideas or help as the support ticket i sent seems lost in space.

Hehehe. The exact something happened to me. We are both stuck before weekend without the ability to play games.....and I know you didn't use the backup bios option before flashing.....don't worry....I didn't either. I already mailed support and they're working on it.

Thanks for f20b bios) Works a little better than f20a. Now when I set XMP it loads at 3066Mhz, but it's possible to set it to 3100 with xmp profile, again with no problems. 3200mhz is still a no go( Compared to official bios it has some lighting issues, xmp logo on the mb doesn't light up.

All hardware on the P67/Z68 boards are specific, based on AWARD BIOS (CPU and PWM controller,etc..).
So,to implement UEFI BIOS was been big ordeal.
Second limitation is BIOS chip size .
New Forum
as you said "BIOS Chip Size" but if look at board specification of two boards having z68 chipset but one is support and other is not support UEFI even after they both board have same size of BIOS chip.
GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3-rev 1.0 (According specification of Gigabyte website)
http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3-rev-10#sp
BIOS
2 x 32 Mbit flash
Use of licensed AWARD BIOS
Support for DualBIOS™
PnP 1.0a, DMI 2.0, SM BIOS 2.4, ACPI 1.0b
GA-Z68X-UD7-B3-rev 1.0

BIOS
2 x 32 Mbit flash

may we know why this double standards with same size of bios and same chip set.
pardon (for words double standards)
Thanks

PS:- why i'm here because system need uefi bios according tech guy and i don't want to build new PC if my old PC can support my requirements but for i need 4TB of drive with UEFI(as per tech guy)

Hi Guys,
I managed to get my hands on a brand new Rev 1.0 P965-DQ6 for a retro build and was trying to find the beta bios F12j for it as it allows unofficial support for the 45nm cpu's . If anyone knows if any other biose's , even official bios allows the use of 45nm on this board i would be grateful for a link to them if possible. i have a X5470 Xeon i want to put in and push it to over 4ghz wwhich the chip is easily capable of.
many thanks
Gordy!

Greetings,
Good questions, simple answer.
While hardware can always be a mitigating factor, the decision was likely due to which board was selling better or was anticipated to have more longevity.

Here is my modded bios for Gigabyte Z77-HD3 rev 1.0:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/sodbiqob5gp7szh/z77hd3-f3.zip
It's based on a unofficial F3 bios found on softpedia. Added NVME support from a newer Z79 bios. It's works like a charm with my Patriot Hellfire 240Gb M.2 SSD inserted on the fastest PCIe slot (moved video card to a slower one).
If Windows won't install you must safe erase SSD with software provided by manufacturer (in my case patriot toolbox).
Have fun!

The simple answer is no, you cannot use the BIOS for one motherboard on a different model with the same chipset.
This is because of the different components used on each different motherboard and the way that the BIOS has been configured to work with the basic chipset and other hardware.
If you try to flash the BIOS with a different model's BIOS it will usually fail and give a warning that the BIOS is the incorrect version.
Rather than flashing the BIOS have you tried to run the 3Tb+ unlock utility?
You can download it from here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3-rev-10#support-dl and I would try this rather than attempting to flash the BIOS.
