Hello,
i just assembled my new PC.
Board: GA Z87-D3HP (Bios was F3, now F5)
CPU: Xeon 1230v3
PSU: Antec Trupower 550W
GPU: GTI 550Ti
Memory: 2*8GB Kingston (KHX16C9K2)
HD: 256GB SSD Samsung 830 (2TB Segeate SA3).
After assembling i started with my old Windows 7 installation and despite missing some drivers the system was stable.
Then i installed Win 8 Professionel x64, installation went fine but every 5 minutes or so while running Win froze the System completely, no mouse or keyboard inputs, even Reset button doesn't work.
Decided to reinstall Windows 8 then and from now on complete mess. Installation halted every time after first reboot while installing. Tried UEFI or Legacy, flashed Bios to F5, moved GPU to other PCI-Express Port, changed GPU to an old GeForce 210 (with this card i could not even enter BIOS!!!).
Reset CMOS, disconnected all drives except for the SSD, installed on the HD, tried Windows 8.1, and nothing worked!!
Ubuntu installation from USB / CD and Windows 7 Installation went fine, but why can't i install Windows 8??
I really regret buying the Z87-D3HP, i've never had so much trouble with any MB ever before :(
edit:
sorry, forgot to mention that i had an 2 memtest+ check to verify my memory was working

On what port is the CD-rom connected. I had a problem one time when installing windows 8. It was the CD-rom that was the problem.
Like you said you could install everything else but windows 8. I had installed xp-64, vista-64, & win 7-64. with that DVD drive.
But windows 8 would not install no matter what I tried. I ended up changing that DVD drive to another one.
I have read that other people had the same problem. I don't know if you can, but make sure that the CD-rom is legacy.
Plus some post one time that if you run the CD-rom on the G-sata it should run legacy.

Thx, but i tried it with 2 different drives, both legacy and UEFI and from USB Stick.
Now i've installed Windows 7, then updated to 8 and can boot into Safe Mode. Installed IntelINF Usb and Nvidia Driver, but now it only boots to a black screen in normal mode.

OMG, sorry for blaming Gigabyte (for the moment ;) ).
Seems that it was my Wireless Network Card, TP Link wn851nd does not work with windows 8 :(

Nice that you got it working. Plus I'm on the MAPS program with Microsoft and I will not use windows 8.1. They still have a lot of work to fix it.
