Title: Z68x-ud7-b3 Motherboard and 16GB of RAM
Post by: Caterpillar on December 21, 2011, 03:19:03 pm
Hello,

Has anyone had any success at running this motherboard, along with an i7-2600K, with 16GB of RAM at 2133MHz or 1866MHz?

If you have, could you please let me know which RAM it was.  I am currently considering 4x4GB of Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz and 4x4GB of G-Skill 2133MHz as potential kits.  Both appear to guarantee operation at their stated speeds, but having had my fingers burned previously, i would prefer to know that someone has actually managed to achieve this.

Also, have you done so by just using the default XMP profile or have you had to tweak voltages/timings?

Thanks in advance

Hi

The chances are whichever kit you end up choosing you will have to manually set the timings and voltage etc as when you fill all the banks like that it puts more pressure on the memory controller and Auto often doesn't hack it. You will propbably have to increase the voltage a touch for a start.

Thanks for that, but I would still be very interested to hear from anyone that had managed to get 16GB working at 1866MHz+
