Hi there,
this could be an OS issue rather than a hardware one as I am running this board with Windows 7 64 bit and the LAN works fine.
As a first step, have you tried the latest version 17.4 Intel Drivers for the LAN ? If not it might be worthwhile trying these. You can find them at TweakTown here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/30530-latest-overclocking-programs-system-info-benchmarking-stability-tools.html#post284763 (they are the 8th item in the list.

Also my motherboard with WIN7 is good !
But with WIN8 or WIN2012 IS A DANGEROUS WAY !!!!! the Win8 ready logo is not true !
Notice :>
I HAVE An old asrock (90€ payed ) and an old Asus motherboards also
and there are not problems at all with DRIVERS INSTALLING WIN8 oe WIN2012 !!!
So the main problem is new devices on UP5-TH ???
WHY THE NEW new giga up5-th (250€ payed) has a lot of problems with drivers in win8 or win2012 ?

I HAVE FOUND that there are AN INCREDIBLE PROBLEMS WITH INTEL driver for win server (hell of damn !!) AT :
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/36ca327a-4bcc-46a2-aed0-388d8c1f80e2/
Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network device issues: http://communities.intel.com/thread/20667
It mentions:
The Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection does not have drivers for any Windows Server operating system. I know this does not help you, but for anyone else looking at this discussion, the The Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection does have drivers for Windows Server operating systems.

Yes, I have also run into problems when it comes to installing some drivers but so far I have not had the time to experiment with my system and to work out why these things are occurring as I have only just installed the motherboard.
I cannot say why we are encountering these problems and the best idea maybe to contact Gigabyte Technical support directly and see if they can offer a solution. You can contact them here: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/technical-support.aspx
