Title: Chipset (Z68) gets hot if SYS_FAN2 is being used :?
Post by: Marley on October 27, 2012, 10:29:32 pm
Hi,

I have a GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD4 motherboard and I've been sufering this issue since I bought it.

When I plug a fan into this fan conector the temperature of the chipset increases 8-10ยบ celsius.

I can control the speed of the fan through Speedfan software. When I turn off the fan the temperature come back to normal state.

I don't know what is happening here. Any idea?

Thanks in advance!

test with a thermometer.  I use a very small candy thermometer.  A couple of bucks at the store.

Does it feel hot to the touch?  Are you overclocking?  How hot is it?

Hi,

The reason for this is that SYS_FAN2 only works at half of the speed of the other fans headers, therefore your components heat up that much quicker.
