Title: GA-970A-DS3 FX-4170 1866 memory problem
Post by: Humpy on November 09, 2012, 11:41:54 pm
Hi, I have just rebuilt my PC with a GA-970A-DS3 motherboard, AMD FX-4170 CPU, 2 x 8Gb Corsair memory (CMZ16GX3M2A1866C9)

No matter what I have tried I cant get the ram to run faster than 1333Mhz.

should I be able to run at 1866? the memory timings show on CPU-Z at 9-10-9-27 for 1866

what 2 memory slots are the best to use on the MB as I have tried different combos.

Any help would be great

Cheers Humpy

In the specs for that board it doesnt say which two so id say any  two that are in the same channel.  Make sure in your bios your ram is set to unganged then set timings manually and voltage then up it to 1600 and test it. Just make sure if you are using two slots use either the blue ones or just the white ons.

Hi, Thank you autotech I have now got my memory running at 1866, not sure what i done different in the end but it finally works

when setting the timings

Command Timing = 2T
CAS# latency = 9T
RAS to Cas R/W Delay = 10T
Row Precharge Time = 9T
Minimum RAS Active Time = 27

what should the below be set to? I have left them at there default setting ATM but should they be different? where do I find out the correct setting?

TwTr Comand Delay = 5T
Trfc = 350ns
Write Recovery Time = 10T
Precharge Time = 5T
Row Cycle Time = 33T
RAS to RAS Delay = 4T

Thank you for your help
