I just built me a new system with the UD7 board.
But I have a problem with the fitting of the Hybrid Silent Pipe cooler for the northbridge.
When i try mounting the cooler its heatpipes are more then 5mm off from the groves in the northbridge.
The motherboard is in the correct position because all other cards fit in the case.
Se attached picture.

Hi
Very strange indeed, nobody else reported such issue.
We have tried again to mount the silent pipe and it's all OK, see below.

Maybe in your case it's the different diemensions??? :o issue, have you tried with other chassis?
-
That is odd, mine's fit in fine. I've actiually mounted it in the case both ways now:
1) ore mounted on motherboard
2) added to mother board after it was mounted in case.
Personally I prefer the 1st method.

Hello!
No I haven´t tried another case, but as you can see on the picture my other cards fits like a glove in the box.
I thought I took a picture of the board and cards when it was out of the case but I can´t seem to find it now.
When I did that test with the board loose on the table and put in the silent pipe and my other cards you could see the difference in length between the gfx and sound card compared to the silent pipe.
Well as for now I manage without the silent pipe and if I´m ever going to get it in the case I need to bend the heatpipes somehow.

Hello guys, i just found this forum, i had the same problem and had almost to force the pipe, that is the only thing went wrong with board, the rest is perfect.
Since i was in search of this pipe information, in the pipe where it says gigabyte, it possible to do watercooling there? if yes can someone help me on how to do it?
Its very important please, now ill go check the forum.

sure you can do watercooling of northbridge there as the mobo has special block for this purpose.
check the 3-rd photo at http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/reviews/28242-gigabyte-ga-x58a-ud7-living-review.html#post79973

I have the exact same problem.
Sent an email to Gigabyte and was told I needed an ATX case instead of an EATX ?? ?? ?? :o
First and last Gigabyte product
-
There shouldn't be any problem with an EATX case, mine fits in perfectly. I have also watercooled the whole system with the Hybrid Silent Pipe cooler in place. If you want to see pictures you can use the link to my website next to my avatar.

From what I can see, they have some issue with their Hybrid cooler QC.
There's even someone complaining about the same issue on neweeg, com and he has a Gigabyte case on top of that.
The coolers fit perfectly for most, but they have a few bad ones and they won't admit it.
I wish I could send them the cooler so they could check it but like I said, they blame my case and not the cooler.
I guess it's cheaper for them to ignore a few of us then to replace the coolers.
-
You could always ask for the spec diagrams of the cooler measurements and compare them yourself.
-
I might try, but they are running away from this issue.
By the way, I have a HAF 932 also.
What bugs me the most is the board works perfectly. I can't RMA it because they keep saying it's the case.

I can guarrantee you there is nothing wrong with the case. Besides that if you think about it that is a stupid statement for them to make, it must have been some junior idiot. How on earth could the case and board be out of specs, the other cards have to fit the same size slots and it is all ATX standard even if it is an EATX case those sizes don't change.
Did you check out the pictures on my website? They show the heatpipe as fitting perfectly.
-
Of course it's not the case but that's what they keep telling me.
And like I said, I only know of a few people with this problem, everyone else has no problem with this which is why they don't care I guess.
Anyways, I will try to get a diagram from them and see what happens.

I am wondering if all these Hybrid Silent-pipe coolers are the same for each board. Is it possible that some could have been mixed up when packing the boards? It is just that from memory the pictures I have seen of the UD9 modules are larger than the UD7 so maybe that also goes for the UD5 and UD3 also. Just another line of enquiry. ;)
