Title: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H Flashing Cursor Slowing Down SSD Boot Time
Post by: tipster69 on November 25, 2012, 03:22:11 pm
Hi,

I have just built a new system with the Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H Motherboard (and 3570K).

Everything seems fine with it, but I was expecting the boot time using an SSD to boot from to be quicker.  One I get to the "Windows Loading" logo it boots very very quickly (under 10 seconds).  BUT, it seems to take too long for my liking to actually reach this.

I am presuming there is some setting I am missing in the BIOS that is slowing down the boot procedure, as after clearing the BIOS Options screen, I am left with a flashing cursor in the top left of the screen that take about 12 seconds or so to clear.

Is there something I can change to make it boot quicker?

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Average boot time with SSD is between 20 to 55 seconds.

Here is a link to windows 7 forum where someone made a neat restart time tool. I dont consider it completly accurate for a boot time but it will give you an idea. My restart was 42 seconds last i checked but just boot up is less.

Do you have quick boot enabled in BIOS?

Do you have first boot device set to SSD.  If it's set to DVD it can wait some time to clear.

What devices are plugged into the motherboard.  The more edeices the longer it takes.

Are you using Windows 8?
