Hello!
I'm building a new computer, i'm planing to buy Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 and FX-8350. In my local shop this motherboard is laying around for few weeks, before new Vishera's came out.
It definetly has older bios on without the Vishera support... Will 8350 work on this motherboard without bios update? or do I have to get one cheap phenom II or sempron to flash it? :'(
Thanks!
Cheers!

you need bios F10 1.15 MB 2012/10/02 . So that has been 8 weeks since that bios came out and it has been sitting in shop for a few weeks i would bet that you will need to flash the bios. It probably has the F7 bios on it which is the last bios before the one mentioned above to update CPU's.
At the best it would have the F9 bios. That also leaves you with alot of cheap CPU's to flash the bios with.

Tnx for reply.
Will it atleast boot with Vishera?
P.S. Will Corsair GS600 PSU will be enough for 8350 overclocked to cca. 4.5ghz and AMD 7770? Other things are pretty standard, 1 HDD, optical drive, 8gb 1866...

Corsair makes good PSU so no problem there. They pretty much all use a single 12 volt rail. As for will it at least boot here is the options. Upgraded processors one time and couldnt figure out why everything reported it as a single core then i found i needed a bios update was only 1 away as in i had the f-9 and needed the f-10.
Another time i upgraded a processor for a friend that he bought to put in his rig. Turned out it wouldnt boot with new processor so after doing a little research i figured i put in the old processor and update it and still no boot with the processor it had been working with for a year. Cleared cmos and tried everything i finally had to send it in under RMA and got it back 3 weeks later and put in old processor to check it all with but they sent it back with the newest bios so i just popped out old one and put in the new one and all was well.
Either of these can happen to you the question is do you want to chance it. Do you know someone with a chip that would work you could borrow or a computer shop that would do the update for you?

I also asked on MSI and ASUS forum, and they said that it will boot, but it will not show the CPU name correctly.
It should boot, because Bulldozer and Vishera are using the name microcode, just CPU ID is different. I think that motherboard manufacturer doesn't matter here, it's about the chipset and bios or i'm a wrong?
I hope they are right.
And yes, my brother has Phenom II X6, and he lives 200km from me... I really don't want to drive to him just flash it, if I don't have to :D
Thanks for reply.
Cheers!

Yeah, I head no problems booting even though the bios was half a year old. Even the cpu name was displayed right.
