Hi,
I built a cheap build for my mom a couple years ago using a GA-M61PM-S2 motherboard(rev 1.0 I think). Currently it has an Athlon 64 X2 3800+.
I am looking at dropping in an Athlon II x3 425 proc into the board for a cheap upgrade. On the cpu support list, which is here: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2373 it states that the f9d bios supports an athlon II x3 440, a processor that's never actually been sold. By looking at the data in this article: http://www.hardware.info/en-UK/news/ymicmJqRwpmacJY/AMDs_Athlon_II_X3_processors_available_soon/ it would seem that the 425 is simply a lower clocked version of the 440.
Would it be safe to assume that the mobo will be compatible with an Athlon II x3 425?
Thanks!

hi
there is Athlon II X3 425 listed as being supported (by bios F9D) under the same link which you used:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2373
(you haven't noticed it ? ;))
so definitely should be no problem with this cpu
