Title: Smartfan bug in BIOS ver F3g GA-X58A-UD7
Post by: illern on December 26, 2009, 11:18:34 am
I have found a BIOS bug in F3g, GA-X58A-UD7
I had smartfan enabled and detection of CPU fan on Auto.
Then it should by itself know if it's a 3pin or 4pin CPU fan.

My fan always did 100% at these settings.
Had to change it from Auto to Voltage mode to get it to regulate the fan speed.

Hi,
It would have started when required in auto settings,
I believe the F3g is a beta bios,
Cheers

Yes, I know it's a beta BIOS.
But I didn't find anywhere else to report a BIOS bug so i did it in this forum.
Just to inform developers about the bug.

If it's not official Gigabyte... Why does it say that on the forum startpage?
"Official GIGABYTE Forum"
Fooled me at least.

It is the official forum as in its on the official gigabyte website. But there is very little activity from Gigabyte Staff and is mainly end-users trying to help eachother out. Although Andrew (Runn3r) is very active on this forum, am sure he will see it and pass it on.

Although out of interest is there any way the 'AUTO' setting could of been giving it to many volts (obviously still safe volts) thus making CPU hotter and the need for 100% fan?
