650w psu
Hp dvdl260 dvd writer/reader
Amd a8 3870l
Nvidia GeForce GT 640 galaxy 1gb DDR3 pci 3.0
I have no onboard video so my monitor is hooked up to the GPU
Western Digital 7200 Rpm 320gb
This is my first build. I have yet to install an OS and Can't launch bios
Okay I have just bought the Gt 640 and Tried accessing bios . I am getting post bios beeping. However it is not like the ones I have read. It is completely different. It is
3 long beeps then 1 short beep. The closest this matches to is the constant long ones. But there is ONE short beep.
Do you think this is because my gpu isnt compatible? I am the I am think of returning this one and getting a radeon 6670 for dual graphics (crossfire)
I have recorded a video of the beeping

Quick google brought me to this:

I believe it's your RAM. have you any other ram to try?
A thought. The board supports 1.5V ram. What's the voltage on them ripjaws?

ram I have is 1.5v The ram I have is brand new too. Is it possible that it is bad RAM? It is 1600 and my board supports 1600.

Totally possible. Try reseating the ram, then try booting without the gpu. Beep code for faulty gpu is 3 short 1 long.

Reseated the ram and it worked perfectly! Thank you!
