Hi all
I have done a fresh install of windows 8 64bit on my PC. I installed the version of easy tune 6 I had on CD B11.0427 and when I when to start the program it looked like it was trying and nothing happened. I then had a look at the web site and found the new version B12.1018.1 and downloaded that.
I found I was unable to uninstall my previous version and so tried installing the new version. It states it was going go upgrade the older version but after it gets about 75% of the way through, I get a 1628 error.
Any ideas of what to do next?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I've just been to your motherboard's download page and there isn't a version of easytune avalable for win8 x64. I assume from this the win7 version you're trying to install is incompatible. Until easytune is made available for win8 I believe your stuck. Even if you could get the win7 version to install, there's no way it would work correctly because of the differences in the os structure.

Hi
I know what you mean that the file is not listed against the mother board downloaded itself, but the site had the following file for download:
Easy Tune6 (AMD) Version B12.1018.1 Date 2012/10/25
Description Easy Tune6 (AMD)
(Note) Please remove current/ earlier version of EasyTune6 and GWUM Tools before install this.
(Note) Support AMD A75/A55/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2 series MB (support may vary by model).
OS:Windows XP 32bit,Windows XP 64bit,Windows Vista 32bit,Windows Vista 64bit,Windows 7 32bit,Windows 7 64bit
The have used a third part remover to uninstall the previous version. When I try to install Easy Tune6 (AMD) Version B12.1018.1, it gets to the part where it states it is preparing to install, gets about 20% along with the progress bar, and then states 1628 - Failed to complete installation.
This has me beat.

If it's not listed against your motherboard/OS it's safe to assume it's not compatible. Have you tried running the installer in compatibility mode for an earlier OS? Perhaps vista sp2?
The only reliable info I can find: http://geeky.info/error-1628-failed-to-complete-installation/
Where's all the brains when you need them?
btw, never got easytune to run on my board, crashed as soon as I adjusted anything - so i stay away

Tried the compatibility idea, but still no luck.
What software did you end up running on your board as a replacement?

I don't use any software apart from aida to monitor things. All my tweaks are done directly from the bios. I'm sorry there's no easier option.
One point: Now Windows 8 has been released it shouldn't be too long before gigabyte update or release an alternative to easytune ;)
