Title: Get Recording to Work

Umm… hi, lm not sure lm posting in the right place now but ill try :p

For quite some time now l’v been trying to get the mic recording to work on my comp, and l’m having no luck…
I have the ALC889A codec and l have found that its  not only I that have probs with it and recording… tho none of the solutions l’v found so far works for me

So this is the prob, when l connect the mic to the comp reacts as it should, everything seems fine, but when l try to record l have to shout to get t to react at all, and that wont work X3
(it does react but the "output sound" is veeeeeeeyr low, if l shout and the n amplify by 800 it becomes normal "talk volume")
And all input levels are maxed so it not that

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi,
Can you post your system specs please,
also your operating system,
Have you got the upto date drivers?
Are you using onboard sound or a pci sound card?

I have an onboard Realtek ALC889a soundcard on a Gigabyte motherboard.
I do have the latest available drivers.
Running Windows XP Home SP3,
on an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 at 3.00 GHz with 3 Gb RAM.

If this is not enough, please let me know what additional information you need.

Hi
Your mobo model no please?
Has this problem occurred since installing SP3???
Check your Device Manager for red or yellow flags. Fix anything there.
If nothing, then download and reinstall the audio drivers, either from Gigabyte, or from RealTek.
Have you tried running  dxdiag from the run command??

'bout the model no, the manual says: "Gigabyte S-series: GA-EP45-DS3R/DS3".
No yellow or red signs in Device Manager.
Regarding dxdiag, everything seems fine ... The only thing that isn't 100% is that the file "vcsvad.sys" isn't digitaly signed (WHQL) by Microsoft.

Hi,
Try this, Control panel
open the volume controls
click the options menu and then check advanced controls
click the advanced button under microphone
check off Microphone boost
mic boost should always be in advanced mic options
something else,  control panel , sounds and audio devices
if you have category view it will be under: sounds, speech, and audio devices
go to the voice tab and click: Test Hardware
check sound recording tab,advanced, microphone select properties
these are all the microphone settings that I know of that may fix your problem
