Title: AHCI driver install w/ nLite
Post by: magic on December 23, 2012, 02:35:47 am
Hello

I just got my custom PC in the mail from CyberPowerPC

I didn't wanna buy windows 7 so it didn't come with an OS

I do have Windows XP x64 Edition tho

Windows Setup kept getting stopped at a blue screen,
that blue screen read:

"a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer"

I read that if you change the SATA mode to IDE from AHCI, windows could install and that screen wouldn't come up.
So that's what I did.

But later, I learned that AHCI is actually good if you have an SSD drive, which I do, and is my primary drive. Along with an HDD for my secondary.

So I formatted both drives and am trying to install Windows again, this time with AHCI enabled.

And that's where I'm at now.

I'm trying to slipstream this:

Intel SATA Preinstall driver
(For AHCI / RAID Mode)
Note: Press F6 during Windows setup to read from floppy.

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_intel_bootdisk_irst_64_xp_7series.exe

with my Windows setup disc via nLite.

Is that the way to go about it ?
