Post by: Macielle on February 05, 2013, 05:25:33 pm

i want to know if i can update bios to support the AM3+ CPU's, because i want to buy the FX 8350.

Is this possible?

I'm afraid you're out of luck. Only the rev3.1 board will run the FX-8350. And please don't attempt to flash the bios with the rev3.1 bios, you'll end up without a working system.
So frustrating I know, I have the 890FXA-UD5 rev2.1 and am stuck too.

No compatibility with AM3+ with version 2.0.version 2.1 had a beta unsupported bios for Zambezi as the DISCONTINUED 3.1 version.

Get a new mobo ,avoid the 970 series get 990 chipset series boards.

Memory limits are generally a function of the chipset. I can't see any bios making a difference to that. I'm in the same boat, my next upgrade option is FM2 or jump ship to intel.

What chipset are you talking about ?!

The memory controller is in the CPU and Phenoms can drive big amounts of RAM.

Limits can come only from the BIOS and OS for different purposes.

We would not know the memory limits set in  BIOS ,try it.

Use x64 OS.

the board is limited to 16GB

Quote
4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory

No bios update will change that. I don't recall seeing a bios update for any board that increases this capacity
