Title: P35C Staggered Spinup Harddisks
Post by: spinnup on January 21, 2010, 12:25:46 am
Hello everyone

I have multiple harddisks which I want to start in staggered spinup when the computer boots, but can somebody please tell me how I can activate this function.

I have a P35C-DS3R, with intel Sata controller.

which revision board, as a point of interest...

I never found a way and with 8hdd's all hammering the psu it was a bit of strain on it!

biggest annoynace I had with the intel sata was the time taken to boot past drive detection, always paused about 8 seconds there and it drove me nuts.

I can't think of any way of doing this except with a custom built circuit. The only solution is to use a heftier PSU or add another dedicated PSU just for the drives.
