Title: Windows 8 and H55N-USB3 - Freezing
Post by: mrchrisp on February 13, 2013, 01:50:36 pm
Hi there,

Wondering if anyone has Windows 8 running on a Gigabyte H55N-USB3? I can get Windows installed and running fine, but after anywhere between 5 minutes and 12 hours of running it will freeze and shutdown. No blue screen will show and a dump is not created. I have tried the following;

- Unplugging all USB devices
- Disabling USB3 Controller in the BIOS
- Using both IDE and AHCI modes
- Re-installing to SSD
- Re-installing to HDD
- Disabling dynamic tick
- Installing Hyper-V (Machine locks up on reboot after enabling this and I have to use System Restore)

I am at the end of things to try. This machine was running Windows Home Server 2011 fine for a year or so. My next step is install Windows 7 and see how that is, but I am assuming that will run ok.

Any suggestions? CPU is an i3-530

Thanks

Chris
