Title: Power connectors on GA-MA785 MB
Post by: pbaxter on January 23, 2010, 05:35:36 pm
My power supply has a 12x2 power connector which fits into the 12x2 power socket.  The MB also has a 2x4 power connector (but my power supply has no 2x4 cable).
Is it necessary to supply power to BOTH the 12x2 AND 2x4 MB connectors?

TIA,
Paul

Whilst it is a good idea to supply the 2x4 with the full connector you can getaway with just plugging in a 1x4.. This needs to go into pins 3,4,7 & 8 om the MoBo (check your manual for pin assignment; page 24 in my manual.) The board will run OK but I would be careful of Overclocking or of running to many add-ons. Don't try to run the board without this connector!

Hope this helps
