I have read ALOT about this, and no one seems to know what is causing it.
All i get when I boot it up is a black screen, all the fans are running but nothing is happens. I made sure it was connected correctly and it still happens. The 5850 have no issues what so ever, and I know it isnt a power issue or a faulty motherboard.
my rig.
Asus P8Z68-V Pro
Core i7 I7-2700K
Corsair Vengeance 2 x 4 GB
Corsair GS700W PSU

Try this:
- disconnect the card (only power cables is fine)
- plug the IGP and in BIOS set it as primary device
- reconnect the card with cable still in the IGP
- install card drivers
- once in BIOS reset to PCI-E as primary device
- plug the card and enjoy!

I tried it out, but the problem still persists. It happens when I get into windows with the IGP as primary and the power cables connected, I get the ding sound where windows detects something being connected, and it crashes with a black screen.
I also tried it in a buddy of mines computer and its the same thing, so this is an RMA.
But thanks for the tip, I was really hoping it would solve it, but since its DoA there is nothing to do about it but send it back.
