Title: GA-970A-D3 Operating system would't install in AHCI mode, used IDE, now what?

Hi all!

Ok, GA-970A-D3 Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit operating system would't install in AHCI mode, so I had to use IDE, now what?

I also just updated the BIOS to 12f, and I think it said something about changing the AHCI function.

I am using a Seagate Barracuda HDD for the hard drive and operating system.

 I do remember you guys telling me IDE mode was not a good idea when using SSD's.

Does IDE cause much of a performance difference when compared to AHCI when using a HDD?

If yes, can you please tell me how to go in an change this set up to work on AHCI?

Make sure your ssd is in sata_0 and it is set to achi mode. If you are using a sata dvd drive put it in the last port and set it to ide for now.
Performance difference in IDE and ACHI is pretty large when using a ssd drive.
