Title: Blank screen after enabling secure boot on z68xp-ud4
Post by: urbenlegend on March 25, 2013, 06:25:39 am
Hey guys,

I have a z68xp-ud4 motherboard and I recently installed the UEFI bios U1L. I then reinstalled Windows 8 and turned on Ultra Fast boot, with VGA adapter setting set to Auto. Everything was working perfectly. Then I tried to enable Secure Boot. I used the custom secure boot option to generate some default keys, disabled CSM, and then rebooted. Afterwards, I see nothing but a blank screen. I don't even see the gigabyte logo.

I tried to reset the bios settings by taking out the battery and also using the clear cmos jumpers, but that didn't seem to help.

Please help. I am seriously at my wit's end. Will provide any additional info as needed.

Intel Core i7-2600
MSI Nvidia GTX 670

P.S. I should also add that the phase led lights are blinking at a steady pace.

How long did you take the battery out & jump the pins on the cmos for.

I would let it sit for a couple hours or even over night.

If you just do it for a short time it might not reset itself.

I've tried it several times already. The last time I left it without a battery for 3 hours. Do I really need to wait that long?

Also if I use the jumpers, do I need to keep the battery in or take it out?

I don't if this will work and you getting no where fast. Unplug the power from the MB both connection take out the memory.

Jump the cmos pins and take out the battery. What happen is the MB is lockup and you have to get unlock.

You might even have to take everything off the MB to get it to unlock. Yes it does kind of sound  stupid but some times the stupid things make it work.

Hmm okay, I'll give that a try later tonight although I am very curious as to why simply setting secure boot would cause the bios to lock up so hard.

Hi urbanlegend

I was wondering, if leaving the motherboard in the state suggested fixed your issue? I am having the same exact problem but with my X79-UD4 and Windows 8.1. After generating the keyes my computer won't boot up. CLearing bios and taking out the battery did not affect it at all. Currently trying th 20 hour tip.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gambit2K

Unfortunately it did not work. It was permanently broken. I had to get a new motherboard afterwards. Currently pretty happy with my ASUS mobo.
