Title: Graphics card: not detected
Post by: Needhelp23 on March 27, 2013, 11:34:27 am
Bought a PC about a month ago. Computer was fine last night. Today, I find that my computer isn't detecting the graphics card installed or my Philips monitor like it normally would. I only noticed this because the resolution of the screen is stretched and I couldn't fix it with my monitor or adjusting the resolution in settings (it won't slide up high enough)

No idea what model the graphics card was. All I know is that it was from GIGABYTE and it was from the NVIDIA series. That's all it says on the disk that came with the computer when I bought it. (everything was already installed when I bought it)

The specs that I can actually gather are:

Windows Version: Microsoft Windows 8  (build 9200), 64-bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Graphics Card:
Total RAM: 16.0 GB

I checked for the specs where I bought it from and it just says '1GB Graphics'

any help?

You could try HWINFO and see what your card is. Run the summary info.
http://www.hwinfo.com/download32.html

Or, In device manager click on Display adapter and it should say what card you have.

Or you could try a system restore to an earlier point and see if that fixes your issue.

Thanks.

nVIDIA GeForce 210 (GT218).

What now?

EDIT: I found drivers for it online, and the installation fails every time

EDIT2: system restored to the day before it happened. Fixed.
