Title: GA Z68XP UD3 with i3 2120
Post by: luckydenvermint on April 09, 2013, 10:36:15 am
Hi all,

new here and hope you can help. Going out of my mind here with this issue.

On a new build and have the GA Z68XP UD3 rev 1.3 mobo and originally ordered i5 2500 processor to use with it - shop out of stock and offered me i5 3570 instead which I agreed to (not thinking about the consequences of Ivy Bridge).

So set up the system and because the new processor isn't compatible the system powered up and then powered off. Realize that I need to flash the BIOS and friend offers me his i3 2120 Sandy Bridge processor to use so I can flash the BIOS.

However still having the same powering off issues and noticed that on the CPU Support list even the i3 2120 is down as F10 BIOS update - is this right? or is it just stating that F10 is the latest available BIOS for the motherboard?

Any ideas what I can do to rectify this issue? I can't use Q-Flash as none of the USB ports are working with these processors in.

Did you try clearing the cmos and try taking the battery out. It might not be the CPU and what kind of memory are you using.

Try one stick of memory and try it in different slots too. They have had about 6 or 7 bios updates and mostly for the 22nm CPU.

The sandy bridge should work with out the update. One other thing is the board in the case if is try taking it out and sit it the box it came in than try it.
