Title: GA-Z77X-UD3H USB Windows 7 limitation
Post by: Vectorspace on April 17, 2013, 08:48:58 pm
I'm considering buying this board for my new build.

This text is on Gigabyte's website, among the specs for the UD3H (and the 4H and 5H):
"Due to a Windows 7 limitation, please connect your USB device(s) to the Intel controlled USB port(s) (located below the RJ-45 LAN port) before the VIA USB 3.0 controller driver is installed"

Can anyone help me understand what this means exactly?

The way I interpret it, it would mean I have to plug in every USB device I have into those two ports at least once, before installing the VIA drivers, or else they won't ever work in the VIA ports. But that seems ridiculous because it would mean any new USB devices I buy after that won't work in the non-Intel ports.

that means connecing your usb keyboard and mouse into not VIA USB port.
After installing VIA USB driver, all USB ports can work correctly.
