Title: Since when was giving advice a bad thing?
Post by: Ben on April 24, 2013, 09:21:03 am
Hi all,

Soap box time,

A  family member asked for help on 'Face Book', regarding a scratched camera lens on their phone, I suggested that they take a look at a video on 'You Tube' on how to remove & replace the lens, it turns out that a home computer guru was a tad upset when I gave her this info, as he was suggesting that she inbox him, for more info into repairing the phone, ( thinking $$$) they then sent me a message saying that any further comments like this will be deleted from "Face Book".
I was this close ( thumb & forefinger 1mm apart) from writing  back & saying "we got him worried methinks".

So when was giving advice a bad thing, one thing for sure I will not be going to him for help, if he said that "yes you can do this, but would advise against it as you may cause damage if done wrong" I would not have minded.

What are you guys thoughts on this, & has this ever happened to you?

Ben.

Hi Ben,

As the old adage goes "you can keep all of the people happy some of the time......" It is just one of those times when you won't do right by everyone. There is always someone out to line their own pockets on most of these forums and websites. I just think that you have to do what is right by your own standards, and tough if others don't agree.

You did the helpful thing so well done!

 ;)

Facebook is the biggest BULLY software u can have.
And Facebooks policy is "to do nothing" about it.
Even that they have all the tools needed.
Thats tragic :(
