Title: 970A UD3 (Rev 3.0) - Released? - When?
Post by: nheather on May 07, 2013, 06:15:17 pm
I purchased a 970a UD3 motherboard online for collection at a local store.

Just been in a store to collect the board  970A UD3 but they offered me a Rev 1.2 rather than a Rev 3.0.

I refused this, stating I wanted a Rev 3.0 board.  They checked their stock and said that they are all Rev 1.2.

I rejected the purchase and got a refund.

But this has left me with a dilemma.  Had I mail ordered from them, I would have received a Rev 1.2 board and would have been in a much more difficult negotiating position.

Equally, if I order elsewhere I have no idea or control over what I will receive.

So when was the Rev 3.0 released - is it very new or does this store just have old stock.

Is the Rev 3.0 board available in the UK yet?

Cheers,

Nigel

It seems it s available in non UE countries ,or at least some guys from outside Europe said they had bought one.
They will not put that on most of the markets until the older stuff is bought of course :)

Anyway it may be the case that the rev 3.0 to only feature the new UEFI BIOS ,opposed to 1.2 that has Hybrid  and this to be the only real difference.
In hardware they must be similar.
Only version 1.0/1.1 had Realtek  sound (opposed to VIA on newer) and from this 2 only 1.1 had LLC settings in BIOS (as the newer ones).

BIOS support is not great though on any of them.

You are probably correct.  Everywhere I contacted yesterday just had the 1.2.

As far as I can tell, there are only two main differences

1 - Durable 4 rather than Durable 3.  Adds something about cross weave fibreglass for the circuit board

2 - UEFI BIOS - this is a new BIOS architecture not just later BIOS firmware.

Didn't really sit right having to buy an old product at full price so I bought an ASUS instead.

Nigel
