However I also have and would rather us eis a 2X2 Gig set of PC8500 Ram

I know the moBo will downclock the ram..Thats fine.i am not OCing this build

QUESTION...  To run the Patriot  PC8500 Ram will I need to set the voltages to the rated specs of this Ram to boot???

Should work fine. I've got 1200Mhz stuff in my G31.

Go into BIOS and change the RAM divider so it recognizes it as 1066mhz. You probably want to set the DRAM Voltage to that of what's recommended on the RAM for absolute guarantee of stability with it.

Hope that helps.
