Title: 780T & memory confusion
Post by: seanhellen on June 09, 2013, 08:35:19 pm
Hi all, this is my 1st post, so hiya everyone - ok,

I have the GA-780T-D3L motherboard with the F3 Bios update. I have been trying to install 2 x 4GB Corsair memory modules in the board but I am having trouble.

The system runs fine on either ram stick (left hand slot) but when i try either putting one in each slot or 1 at a time in the right hand slot, I get a blank screen and a repeated long beep. Whats even stranger is that (according to the manual) 1 repeated long beep is to do with the graphics card...there is nothing wrong with the graphics card as it doesn't happen when there is 1 stick in the left hand slot.

I have tryed re-seating the memory, pressing it in firmly and making sure there is no dust in the slots. Any ideas?

Flush the bios and reset/load all defaults - this may help?

Hi, sorry for the delay - thought the forum would send an email notification about new posts, never mind. Thanks for the reply. Tried updating bios (latest version, but tried it anyways) and still nothing. :-[

Most probable a compatibility problem.
You need either a new BIOS either kits of 2Gigs sticks.

Hmmm, might as well stick with my single 4gb stick then. No point using the 2 slots for the sake of it. Just weird it works with 1 and not 2. Suppose the slot could be damaged.
