Post by: beenie on June 19, 2013, 07:24:27 am
Gigabyte doesn't seem to have a recommended RAM list.

is 1.5v okay, and this RAM module?

KVR16N11S8/4

4GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL11 DIMM SR (512x8)

What you are saying you have 8 sticks of memory. If so you can only use 4 of them and that would be 2gbs.

(512x8) is 8 chips X 512KB = ~4GB ...1 memory stick.  ;)

it's the same old story. Not one of the RAM modules on that PDF is available at any of the distributors. I always have this problem. So I end up with port in a storm. This is a Gigabyte forum, why can't someone tell me which RAM to use and instead of sending off to lala land with no result.

Hi beenie,

I check infos about your RAM:
http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KVR16N11S8_4.pdf

The SPD is programmed to JEDEC standard latency DDR3-1600
timing of 11-11-11 at 1.5V.

In bios, in the SPD section for Ram....
set for 1600mhz
If with this timing 11-11-11-24or30, the RAM are not funtionnal...
Change timing for 9-11-10-28 or if fail ....
timing 9-9-9-27

Your RAM are not XMP compatible...
So , use a SPD section, not a XMP section.

Maybe if fail, change a slot of Ram on the motherboard.
